Band of Brothers Episode 6 *FULL LENGTH REACTION

MEDIC!!!!

Hey guys, another Band of Brothers episode coming at ya!

I love how they are focusing on different characters in these last few episodes!  This one stands out because I feel like Medics are just running around all the time just trying to patch people together so they can be sent somewhere to recuperate.  In field operations or surgeries would be absolute hell!

I just felt so exhausted watching this episode, poor medic.  I can sense the feeling of just wanting it to be over and be able to have a break of some kind.

After watching all these war movies and TV series, I really just want to spend a whole day reading Wikipedia and other sources to learn more about everything.

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the episode.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Chocolate must have been so amazing of a treat.  I suppose I should have some chocolate today 😁

The powder Doc keeps putting in the wounds is sulfa a antibiotic used before wide spread use of penicillin. It's still used today in areas where the local bacteria has become antibiotic resistant.

I had Belgian chocolate this weekend, and oh man was it ever amazing! If ever I go to Belgium, I need to try all the chocolates :D That must have been quite something to experience 😨 In a case like that, I would just try to go unnoticed as best as possible. Unfortunate that you weren't able to hear his stories from him though

Ahh M for morphine makes sense, can't have people being injected with too much morphine, they die and all that morphine has been wasted. I definitely never learned about the Battle of the Bulge in school, so this is a nice little history lesson, thank you!! The amount of death with air raids is just insane. It's so sad when you think about all the death and killing. I can never understand people who are willing to start a war for something. But then again, had Hitler won, I assume that another war would be forthcoming at some point to break free from the madness

Ah Belgium, the land of chocolate, fries and beer. Thats why Renée kept handing out chocolate. My grandfather died when i was 1 year old but my mother told me he talked about watching Hitler himself pass by in his Mercedes in a german parade when they conquered Belgium.

So just a few notes about the episode. The letter M that Doc drew on the Lt. Welsh's forehead was to indicate that he had been given morphine. The Battle of the Bulge was one of Hitler's last grasps. The Allies were critically short of supplies with the supplies still mainly coming ashore at Normandy. The Allies had taken a few deep water ports so that the supplies could be offloaded and be that much closer to the front. However, the Germans had damaged the ports severely and were still not usable for offloading. The German plan was to drive to Antwerp, one of those ports, and re-capture it. The nurse was a real person and is buried at Bastone; however, it is unknown if Doc ever met her. She was killed during the air raid on Bastone moving the wounded out of the hospital to other locations.
