September Schedule and update!!

Hey everyone, it's time for another schedule post!!

September is looking like a pretty great month, I'm continuing the franchises that I've already started, and watching my first Arnold Schwarzenegger movies!!!  I'm starting up school again partway through September, so I'll see how much time I have for editing and filming for October.

YOUTUBE
Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol
Andor (Arc 2, Arc 3 & Arc 4)
The Terminator
The Green Mile
Mission Impossible Rogue Nation
Jurassic Park 3
Terminator 2: Judgement Day

PATREON
Band of Brothers (Episodes 6, 7, 8, 9)
Full Length reaction of the YT movies
Clone Wars (4 episodes per week!)

The days for each week's YT releases will be posted in a weekly YT community post, but generally it's [Tues or Wed] and [Sat or Sun].

I'm a little bit nervous for Terminator since there is SO MUCH HYPE about these movies, but I'm equally really excited to see what they're all about.  As for Mission Impossible, they are not very popular movies on my channel, but I'm doing these for me since so far they have been super fun to watch ๐Ÿคฉ

For the Andor edits, each video will be 1 arc.  I liked that style and am keeping it for Andor since it only makes sense.

As a reminder, I will not be watching Ahsoka until much later, since I need to watch other Star Wars series beforehand.  This is the order that I'll be watching Star Wars
Clone Wars > Rebels > Mando S1 & S2 > Boba Fett > Mando S3 > Ahsoka

Also speaking of TV series, Band of Brothers will be done soon-ish, at which point I'll be starting a new series.  I'm not sure what that will be, so I would love to hear your suggestions!! I've already seen Breaking Bad, sadly since that one has been recommended often.  I've seen it twice, actually, the first time I was pro-Walter, and anti-Skylar, then the second time it switched ๐Ÿ˜‚

We've gotten to a part of Clone Wars where the arcs are 4 episodes long, so that means 4 episodes a week! It feels like the episodes are just getting better and better, so I'm super excited for them!!

Thank you all for being so great and joining me on these amazing movie/tv adventures, you are all MVPs!!

Q: have you watched the Marvel/Netflix series ("Daredevil", "Jessica Jones", "Luke Cage", "Iron Fist", "The Punisher")? They transferred over to Disney+, and the characters, played by the same actors, are staring to appear in the Disney+ MCU shows.

JAKH

The TV show "Lucifer", based on the DC/Dark Horse comic, was on FOX rather than CW and does not appear in the Arrowverse except briefly in the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover (same actor). Cancelled after 3 good seasons on FOX, it was picked up a few years later by Netflix for another 3 (bad) seasons.

JAKH

DC Cartoons: The Superman and Batman cartoons have their own universes, but "Vixen" is part of the "Arrowverse", with the actors from "Arrow" and "The Flash" voicing their characters in the "Vixen" cartoons, and the actress who voices Vixen made live-action appearances on "Arrow" and "The Flash" Arrowverse crossovers. The "Constantine" animated movie is voiced by the same actor as the TV show and Arrowverse, and the animated Constantine looks like the actor.

JAKH

1) Yes, the "Constantine" TV show and the movie (w/ Keanu Reeves) are about the same character and based on the same comic ("Hellraiser", mentioned in 1st season of "The Big Bang Theory" if you watched it), but are not connected story-wise. 2) Yes, the "Alien Nation" movie (starring James Caan) should be watched first, as it sets up the world and 2 main characters (set in late 1980's early 1990's LA). It is a buddy-cop setting with 2 LAPD detective partners: 1 Human and 1 Tankonese, which uses "aliens" as cover for stories about social and racial issues, including looking at human social customs and mores from the outside "alien" viewpoint. 3) Yes, there are a lot of DC TV shows. Universal is much better at making comic-bases series than movies. A bunch of them are connected. Starting with the show "Arrow", in the 2nd season there is a 2-part episode with a guest star setting up a spin-off series. Arrow 3rd Season ran concurrently with "The Flash" 1st season, including cross-over episodes. Each season after that added a new spin-off series which ran concurrently with the others and included crossovers. Each season had an all-series multi-episode crossover in November (around Ep8 or 9 each season), plus there was an Arrow-Flash cross-over each season. Subsequent spin-offs were: "Legends of Tomorrow" and "Supergirl". These were all on the CW network and are collectively referred to as "The Arrowverse". These are full 22-24 episode network seasons. The actor from the "Constantine" TV series reprised his role in the Arrowverse to make guest appearances as Constantine several times, and eventually became a regular on "Legends of Tomorrow". "Black Lightning" was completely separate, set in an unconnected universe until the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" 5-ep crossover). 2 additional shows were teased at the end of the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover (Arrow season 8) and aired the following summer: an 8-ep mini-series of "Swamp Thing", and "Stargirl" (with Luke Wilson) which ran 3x 13-ep seasons. These never crossed over with the Arrowverse. They had many references to older shows, for example there was a 1-season 24-episode "The Flash" in 1990. The actor who played "The Flash" in that series plays Barry Allen's father Henry in the CW "The Flash", as well as reprising his role as the Flash from the "Earth-90" alternate dimension during the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover. On "Supergirl", the actress playing her mother (Helen Slater) had played "Supergirl" in the 1984 movie, and the actor playing her father (Dean Cain) had played Superman in the 1990's series "Lois & Clark". Teri Hatcher (Lois from "Lois & Clark") made a couple of guest appearances, as did Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman from the 1977-1980 TV series) and Faye Dunaway (from the 1984 "Supergirl"). The character "Christopher Chance" from "Human Target" makes a couple of appearances, but played by a different actor than in the TV Series "Human Target".

JAKH

Does Constantine have anything to do with the movie of the same name? I've added them to the list, thank you! So Alien Nation should probably be watched after the movie, since it happens after it, right? If I watch Heroes, I would end up watching all of it even if it gets to be horrible. My curiosity would get the best of me ๐Ÿ˜‚ It seems there are a lot of DC Comic shows, which is exciting! I was thinking of watching the cartoon ones too, though I'm not sure if there is an order needed for any of it

Verowak

Recommendations: - "Chernobyl" (mini-series, 5 eps, true events) - "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr." (1 full network season, 28 eps, adventure-comedy set in the old west, stars Bruce Campbell) - "Alien Nation" (1 full network season, 24 eps, picks up after the end of the movie "Alien Nation" (1988), followed by 5 made-for-TV movies, aliens living in contemporary LA) - "Heroes" (24-episode network seasons. 1st season was great, you can skip 2nd-4th) this is the source of the meme "Save the cheerleader, save the world" - "Human Target" ( 2 seasons, based on the DC comic) - "Constantine" (1/2 network season, based on the DC comic) The same actor plays Constantine in the CW "Arrowverse" shows.

JAKH

Besides Arcane being my first choice, I would recommend Ted Lasso, Chernobyl and Squid Game from this list. I haven't seen the others yet. And I would add Wednesday. ๐Ÿ™‚

silverarrow06

Yes, it is pretty much a year from now, in the 4th quarter of 2024, and I can't wait to see it! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ™Œ I know it is high praise, and I assure you I'm not known to give it easily. The show has a 9.0 at the IMDB scale (if I could, I would give it a 12 of 10 ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™ˆ) and 100% positive reviews and an 96% viewers score on Rotten Tomatoes...๐Ÿ˜Š

silverarrow06

As close to perfection as possible?! That's high praise!! I've heard that there will be a second season at some point in 2024 I think!

Verowak

Now that's a list :D The only ones I've seen are Daredevil and Jessica Jones (though I'm waiting for new Daredevil to come out at some point) I also have never heard of a bunch of them! I've added them all to my spreadsheet though. I hope you know that you have lengthened the poll by a few choices since there are SO many good ones (from what I've heard over the past year). There are a few that I wanted to watch but just forgot about, like Squid Game, The Queen's Gambit and Chernobyl. Thank you!! And for keeping it to shows with not too many episodes to start with :D

Verowak

In case you've not seen it, "Arcane". Without any hesitation or doubt "Arcane". There is no better, more brilliantly told, more gripping show. It will be the greatest, scariest, fastest, most thrilling and most emotional rollercoaster you've ever been on. One Season is out, it has 9 episodes around 35 to 40 minutes each and is available on Netflix. It simply is fantastic in any thinkable way. You don't need any knowledge about League Of Legends, in fact it can be an advantage to know as little as possible. For me it is as close to perfection as possible for a tv-show. ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ™ˆ P.S.: Trust me, I am not overselling. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Š

silverarrow06

Ok, a proper list of TV show recommendations it is. Iโ€™m keeping this to a few parameters; no more than 40 episodes, should be relatively easy to find on services (will try to list the North American ones), no animation, and preferably finished shows (will note ones that are not with an asterisk *). -Ted Lasso (3 seasons, 34 episodes, Apple TV+) -Severance (1 season, 9 episodes, Apple TV+) [*S2 in production] -Squid Game (1 season, 9 episodes, Netflix) [*S2 in production but S1 pretty self contained] -The Queenโ€™s Gambit (mini-series, 7 episodes, Netflix) -Chernobyl (mini-series, 5 episodes, Crave/HBO) -The Pacific (mini-series, 10 episodes, Crave/HBO) -Succession (4 seasons, 39 episodes, Crave/HBO) -Watchmen (1 season, 9 episodes, Crave/HBO) [*extremely small chance of season 2, but S1 pretty self contained; should watch the 2009 movie first] -Legion (3 seasons, 27 episodes, Disney+/Hulu) -The Bear (2 seasons, 18 episodes, Disney+/Hulu) [*S2 just came out] -Firefly (1 season, 14 episodes, Disney+/Hulu) [*was cancelled by Fox part way through the season back when it aired, but was fairly episodic; was later โ€œconcludedโ€ with a cinema movie release โ€œSerenityโ€ in 2005] Honourable mentions: Barry, Deadwood, Atlanta, Fawlty Towers. Special mention: The Marvel/Netflix โ€œstreet level showsโ€ (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, etc.; which are now all on Disney+/Hulu). All very good to excellent shows that are max 3 seasons/less than 40 episodes total each, but are quite the rabbit hole to go down if you want to watch the whole set. I also wouldโ€™ve broken my no animation parameter and placed โ€œArcaneโ€ on this list, but I think youโ€™ve seen it.

Maybe you could do like what you suggest in the intro to MI4: Make the Theatrical Cut your official reaction for here and on Youtube. But then maybe do a secondary reaction to one of the extended cuts. That way if you happen to get the tonally-off alternate ending, it won't sully your first impression of the movie.

WastedPo

Oh damn! I'll probably stick to the safer option and do the theatrical cut, just to be safe lol!

Verowak

I mean, one way you can be totally safe is if you simply watch the Theatrical Cut, which is what a lot of reactors opt to do. Granted, you'll miss out on some interesting extra scenes within the body of the movie. However, that might be okay. Because while I DO like some of the scenes, I think some are unnecessary and drag the pacing down. However, if you really want to see the extra scenes within the body of the movie, and also still want the better theatrical ending--I can tell you that I purchased something called the "(Special Edition) Extended" off of VUDU. (It's probably available on other streaming services too.) That one has the extra scenes but preserves the theatrical ending. It's exactly 2 hours and 34 minutes long, and I would assume that any version you get that's labelled "special" and that's exactly that length will probably be "safe," in that the theatrical ending will be intact. Edit: Crap. I see that VUDU lists the "Director's Cut" also at exactly 2 hours and 34 minutes. So you're really just placing all your eggs in the basket of if your copy says "Special Edition."

WastedPo

Oh that's really weird, how can I know if I get the correct ending for the Director's cut (aside from someone else checking beforehand, since I don't want to watch the version with the alternate ending).

Verowak

I'm a little leery about you watching a "Director's Cut" of Terminator 2. I admit, I do like some of the extra scenes within the body of the movie. However, for whatever reason, some copies of it include a slightly different ending to the theatrical cut, and it's an ending that feels tonally jarring. James Cameron himself didn't even like this alternate ending, which is why he edited it out almost immediately for the theatrical release of the movie. (The fact that this weird ending that Cameron didn't like is included in something called the "Director's Cut" is just a bit of deceptive marketing.) What's weird is that when I search online, Quora claims that this alternate ending was never officially attached to home release versions of the movie. Except I know that's not true, because I've seen Youtube reactors who "got" that jarring ending as part of their movie. (And the commenters below were like what the heck is this ending?)

WastedPo

Community, Parks and Rec, and Arrested Development are shows that I know memes from, and that's it ๐Ÿ˜

Verowak

I always get confused between Succession and Severance since I know nothing about either, and they both start with an "S" ๐Ÿ˜‚ I keep hearing about Ted Lasso, all I know is that Jason Sudeikis is the main character, absolutely nothing else.

Verowak

Also: Community (one of the best shows ever made), or Arrested Development (one of the best shows ever made, for three seasons).

Garren Haskell

Severance would be a good one! Thought provoking, and short, just one season so far. I'd also enjoy Ted Lasso, (even though I'm currently watching it with my folks, I'd watch it again). Also, I'm just gunna throw in for your consideration: The Good Place. Quite a bit more comedic for a TV series, though not strictly a comedy, and definitely not a sitcom. It pulls on the heart while making you laugh and stuff, I really enjoyed it.

Garren Haskell

My only problem with The Walking Dead is that its a LOOOOOONG series ๐Ÿ˜…The length of it is the only reason why I hesitate

Verowak

I'm taking recommendations to make a poll for TV series ๐Ÿ˜ I'll also have a poll this month for a movie. I want to think of themes for the polls (director, actor, genre, decade, etc)

Verowak

Will there be any upcoming Patreon polls/votes for future movies and series, or are you just taking recommendations? For series recommendations, a couple that I would suggest are โ€œSeveranceโ€ and โ€œTed Lassoโ€ (Apple TV+). But truthfully, there are just so many good shows and movies that I could go on forever so will wait for your feedback.

Laxjedi

I saw it's available on YT only, basically I'll be watching it after I finish the series

Verowak

After Band of Brothers and the +episode We Stand Alone Together it's only natural to watch The Pacific ๐Ÿ˜‰ Have you ever considered watching The Walking Dead?

King_Panarisi

We Stand Alone Together: The Men of Easy Company follows the last episode of Band of Brothers. Well worth the watch.

Billy Dancel

๐Ÿ˜‚ It would be mean to split up arcs. At least I would be bummed if that was the case

Verowak

FOUR episodes! Spoiling us now!
