Patreon poll winner!

Good timezone everyone!!

Thank you to everyone who came to the Premiere of Shrek 2, it really helps with YouTube pushing my video to more people 💚

*****The winner of the Patreon Poll is: Ex Machina (2014)!!!*****

It was a close race, which surprised me, so I will probably watch the 2nd and 3rd place winners also at some point.

I will have a more detailed update on June 1st, but seeing as there is a Mission Impossible movie releasing in July, I will be starting the Mission: Impossible franchise in June!

The only thing I know about Mission Impossible is that Tom Cruise is in it, and there is a scene where he drops down from the roof or ceiling to.. avoid the red laser detectors things?

Are there any movies releasing this year that you are looking forward to?

It's super rainy here, so everything feels meh and lazy.  Tomorrow though will be warm and sunny, so it'll be time to spend the day outside.

Take care, and as always, thank you for being part of this community!!

Funny story, the first franchise that I saw the boulder scene in was Tomb Raider 🤣I played one of the games when I was a kid and that's what I associated the rolling boulder with until much later when I learned that it was first done in Indiana Jones I'm definitely going to be starting Mission Impossible, and I'll eventually watch Top Gun so I know the two movies/franchises are different LOL

I'm really looking forward to the Mission Impossible reactions. As I said in a previous comment, the series has evolved drastically over the years from a storytelling perspective The first movie has that iconic scene that everyone is familiar with (as evidenced by your comment); it's like the rolling boulder in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in that it's been referenced and parodied so many times. Despite that, MI 1 doesn't really stylistically resemble anything that comes afterwards. MI2 is the least liked of the series (though some view it as a guilty pleasure). It was directed by John Woo, and I personally think it almost feels like a parody of an action movie. At this point, Cruise could've stopped making MI movies altogether, and I don't think people would've fussed too much. However, from MI3 onward, JJ Abrams came on as a producer, and it's like it's a whole new series. In stark contrast with MI2, Cruise's Ethan Hunt is now more of a reluctant hero. He's more vulnerable and cares about his friends. (He also consistently needs rescuing himself.) As a result, he's way more likable and relatable. (It's kind of the way that Harrison Ford approached the Indiana Jones character, where it always felt like he was in over his head.) I think this drastic storytelling change is one of the biggest reasons why the series eventually became so well-liked.
