Andor Episode 1 *FULL LENGTH REACTION

Happy Monday everyone!!

I feel confused after this episode, but know that my questions will be answered throughout the series and it will all make sense.

It's still a little odd having such a completely different storyline than the trilogies.  Similarly to Rogue One, I have no idea what's going on or what to expect, except for this TV Series, I know 1 character.

I looked at the poster really quickly and have no idea who most of those people are, so I expect to be lost for a little bit.  I am a little sad that K2SO is not on the poster, but I'm still going to hope he shows up at some point.  That would be absolutely amazing!

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the episode.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

It'll be nice here all week, and I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time outside in the sun (with sunscreen of course)

I'm binge-watching your ANDOR stuff today! 💎

As soon as I heard the name "Andor" in Rogue One, I became interested in seeing the series 😂 Even just the first episode, it has a different feel, production value, story and acting wise. Everything I've heard about Andor is that it's different from the rest, but in a good way so I'm hoping Disney leans more into this style of story telling. I'm really excited to watch more of it :D

Andor was my sleeper when they were announced and it was most of the same people from Rogue One. Everyone was hyped about Obi-wan, mando, boba fett, etc and i was cautiously optimistic about those but I said Andor is going to be good. It's much better than good. Arguably the best production value (cinematography, costumes, locations, etc) and writing in all of Star Wars. It's a slow burn but they made a smart choice by releasing the first 3 episodes (first arc) all at once so people could understand how the show pacing and feel is before writing it off after 1 or 2 slow episodes. Definitely one of the top Star Wars shows for sure

I'm really glad they specified that this takes place in 5 BBY, at least I know there are a few years before Rogue One. That's what I'm most looking forward to, the feel of the TV series being more BBC/HBO, which is very different from the normal Disney stuff. It will show that they can make series like this, and hopefully they continue! I've seen comments on Rogue One how people found it "didn't feel like Star Wars". The best that I could deduce was because there were no Jedi, since all the rest of the Star Wars content focuses on the Jedi. I loved the fact that we saw non-Jedi in Rogue One, and see how their struggles are for every day people. This is what I'm looking forward to with Andor! Thanks for the arc breakdown!

Oh yes I love Andor. It has a very different feel to you're typical Star Wars almost feels like a show from the BBC or HBO much more character focus with a focus on the in between moments and a much slower pacing, very much a slow burn for the first two episodes. Also has a very retro cold war feel to it like a spy drama set in the Cold War. The Corporate Security Headquarters looked very retro yet had a very Soviet vibe to it kind of reminding me of Chernobyl. In terms of timeline Andor Season 1 is set in 5 BBY around the same time as Rebels Season 1 (First Time BBY has shown up in a Star Wars project beyond a Book) so 5 Years before Rogue One and A New Hope. This puts it 5 years after Obi Wan as well. The Rebellion was formed in 2 BBY but there were a bunch of Rebel Cells active across the galaxy doing they're own thing years before this. When the time was ready they all came together in 2 BBY which gave birth to the Rebel Alliance on Yavin IV. 37:50 In novels it's explained that Andor was apart of an insurrectionist cell backed by the Confederacy that fought against the Galactic Republic. He was a child solider but not a full on separatist just backed by them. But like many separatists they saw themselves as rebels fighting the corrupt Republic so Andor is most likely referring to the fact that he's been rebelling all his life from against the Republic to now the Empire. Revenge of the Sith - 19 BBY The Bad Batch - 19 BBY Solo - 10 BBY Obi Wan - 9 BBY Andor - 5 BBY <-------------------------- Here Rebels - 5 BBY to 1 BBY Rogue One - 0 BBY A New Hope - 0 BBY It's also shot on Location as well mostly the UK so alot of British actors with accents and slang so this does add to the overall British feeling as well. It's just a very different Star Wars and I know there's a whole group of people out there who just couldn't get into Andor because "It didn't feel like Star Wars" which to me is insane as to me it very much felt like Star Wars just throw the eyes of the everyday person. I think some fans just want Star Wars to be one thing, Star Wars should be allowed to venture out it's a whole galaxy afterall. I personally love that and glad we're finally being able to see the more grounded civilian view of the Star Wars galaxy which makes the Jedi and force aspect feel that more special and powerful when you compare it to the everyday person. There will be a Season 2 releasing around 2024/2025. From my understanding the second Season will span a few years and tie right into Rogue One just like how Rogue One tied right into A New Hope. This will be the final season so you're dead on the money with what you expected. I highly recommend watching this series in three episodes together as there's four story arcs each made up of Three episodes, like a mini movie. So episode 1 for example is part of Arc 1 which will come together in Episode 3 and then you'll dive into the next story arc. Arc 1 – Episodes 1-3 Arc 2 – Episodes 4-6 Arc 3 – Epsidoes 7-10 Finale Arc – Episodes 11 – 12
