FULL LENGTH REACTION* for Die Hard (and update)

CHRISTMAS MOVIE TIME!!  I assumed this was a big joke that this was a Christmas movie and... well, I must admit that technically it's a Christmas movie.

2 things I want to bring up:

1 - There is a Discord hangout later today (Dec 20th at 4pm EST/10pm CET) if you can join!  Don't feel obliged to talk, you can listen in and there's a text channel for those without mics or who don't want to talk.

2 - I was planning on doing 3 Christmas movies, but I've had massive back issues these past few weeks and being at the PC is painful, so I won't be able to edit 3 movies, sadly.  So the patreon poll winner will still be done, and I'll save Home Alone for next year

A quick reminder that you do need your own copy of the movie so you can watch along the reaction :)

Have a great week, and I look forward to seeing everyone for the hangout later! <3

I'm so curious to see him in any kind of comedic role!! I definitely did not know those two things, but now it makes more sense. I felt that there were reasons for these things to happen in the movie but it completely blew past me :D

At the time this movie was released in the summer of 1988, Bruce Willis was known for doing romantic comedy primarily in the TV show Moonlighting with Cybill Shepherd but also in movies like Sunset and Blind Date. When the trailers to this movie came out, it depicted Bruce as this serious action hero. I remember mocking this with a friend of mine. Bruce Willis action hero? You gotta be kidding. But being 19 years old and having thought director John Mctiernan's Predator the previous year was brilliant, I had to check this out at the theaters. The rest is history. You mentioned this movie was one of the first movies of this type and you may be right. Die Hard blends cop movies like Dirty Harry, disaster movies from the 70s like The Towering Inferno and international terrorist movies like Black Sunday using state of the art effects for the time while poking fun of itself at the same time ("I love chocolate bars!"). Two things you didn't seem to know watching the movie: 1. Hans to Takagi: "Nice suit. John Phillips, London. I have two myself. Rumor has it Arafat buys his there." The Arafat Hans refers to is former PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat who was seen by some as a terrorist. 2. The exchange between Hans and John where Hans confuses John Wayne with Gary Cooper refers to the 1952 film High Noon with Cooper and Grace Kelly that foreshadows events later in the picture. Another fun reaction. Ho Ho Ho

This is a great documentary about an office Christmas party! Sorry to hear that your back is still not being your best friend, I hope it feels better swiftly. Looking forward to the discord hangout later and meeting other patreon folk 🙂
