Quick little how to make Velcro eyelids. You'll need stiff black felt around your eyes. It's with the felt in craft stores but it's stiff like construction paper. The felt is what the Velcro sticks to.
I start with a paper pattern of the eyelid and then transfer it to more stiff felt.
Glue down what ever fabric you would like the eyelid to be onto the felt. For these ones I shaved down some fur.
Trim the fabric with just a small overhang along the top of the eyelid. With a small amount of glue, wrap the overhanging fabric around the top edge of the lid. This will make it more seamless when on the fursuit head.
Cut small pieces of Velcro and glue it along the top edge of the back side of the lid. You kind of have to puzzle piece them together.
Add a strip of black felt on the bottom edge on the front of the lid to finish off the eyelid. If you don't want the black eye liner in that spot you can just glue and trim the edge neatly and leave it.
When putting on the eyelid you have to keep in mind the Velcro is sticking to the black felt part around the eye. You may need to put it higher than you first think. The black eye liner should be fully covered by the eyelid. Firmly press the Velcro onto the felt to insure a secure fit. And double check the eyelids are symmetrically placed on both eyes.
I find these much easier to make than magnetic eyelids while still being secure enough to stay on while Fursuiting.
