Bunny Girl is pretty consistent as a series s1, s2 and the movies are all about the same quality
But this movie is a tier above the rest, a story that gets stuck in your brain for days
I cried my eyes out first time and all other times watching this

Yeah, this is probably the most appropriate thumbnail for this reaction π

The part that always gets me is when Sakuta is speechless when he sees Mai in the dressing room. I lost someone around that age and that scene puts me squarely in his shoes. I tear up almost immediately when she takes the mask off and you see his face.

Ya know, there's one thing about this movie that I was hoping Ben and Anna would have touched on, but it's so subtle that I think everyone (including myself) misses it first time: The selfishness of sacrifice.
I can't blame Sakuta for wanting to save Shoko... who could? Yet, when faced with the reality that Mai would have had to suffer through, he realizes that giving up his life for someone else isn't all that great an act: The people left behind will feel the loss and mourn. I think that was why he had a difficult time trying to convince his pre-accident self not to give up his life. He comes away with one of the best realizations about himself: Man, I never realized how stubborn I can be.
I fall back to Re:Zero thinking about this, how Subaru eventually had to realize that he deserved to be included with the people he wanted to save. Mind, he had to relive every death in Lagunica and witness the hurt and pain of those he cared about before it set it, so Sakuta lesson, harsh as it was, could have been worse.
Ben and Anna did come to that conclusion, but I wish they went into that process a bit more. We think of self-sacrifice as noble, and it is... but it exacts a heavy toll. One of the fucked natures of existence is knowing that the people who most deserve good things are often only recognized when they don't or can't get them.

I didnt quite get the ending the first watch. My one big fault with the movie is i think they should have 1 or 2 more scenes to spell out that mai's movie performance inspired more people to be donors. You really kinda have to read in between the lines or have someone else spell it out...

Maaaaan, Anna's reaction at the crash was literally the same as my own the first time watching. That moment and this movie wrecked me.

Perhaps not as dramatic as this film, but the story continues to unfold and has some very important moments for the characters.

Was waiting for this reaction! Heart wrenching movie, glad you guys picked up this series. I will say the rest of the movies and season 2 don't come near how good the first season and this movie is

If y'all are readers, I highly recommend picking up the books. The adaptation is really good, but the books are fantastic. Especially the two books that are adapted for this movie. I literally had to stop reading and sobbed for 10 minutes at one point toward the end of the second book. And getting a good cry out of a book is always a good thing. π
