You guys were so hard on Aira a few episodes ago 😂
She’s actually a really multifaceted character. She’s basically a “selfless narcissist” — she genuinely believes that even something as simple as her smile can make a lonely person’s life a little better, and she does it out of real kindness.
I know this isn’t really the place for it, but the discussion you had at the end made me feel like you’d really enjoy reacting to Dark Gathering. Unfortunately it’s not a very popular anime, even though the manga did well and the anime adaptation is genuinely great, so it probably won’t win any polls… but still, I think it would fit your style perfectly.

I like what Aira did at the end there, because as kind as Momo is I don’t think she could have “lied” if she were in the same position.
Aira has experience people pleasing to feed her own ego, so this was a satisfying turn.

I can confirm this is true, since this is the arc that made me buy the physical copy of the manga, before the anime even came out.

So... that last scene of Silky's flashback with the dance... the manga makes this a bit clearer: As a last gift to her daughter, she mustered her strength and performed one last dance for her daughter on top of a roof... before jumping off of it.
Her real daughter is apparently confirmed to have died. A shard of glass hit her and caused her to die shortly after she'd been kidnapped.
The last shot of her and her daughter is of them being re-united in the afterlife.
(I should note: This is secondhand knowledge. I haven't read the manga, but this is what someone else has said was confirmed in the manga.)

I believe that the animation has indicated, Acrobatic Silky has indeed found peace. When her body crumbled, it's either falling on the ground or peeled sideway; but after Aira embraced her, we saw her remaining body pieces floated upwards, symbolizing that she has "ascended", or moved on peacefully.

Same, I think she can compete for best written character in this anime

I've caught several Evangelion references and inspirations throughout this show and I would be sooooo curious to see what you guys think as it goes along

Aira is my favorite Dan Da Dan character, and as you can probably tell by even ep 7, that's saying a lot.

You have undergone the (first?) gut-punch. Welcome :)
Side note: I love the VA’s in this show, and the dialog is actually pretty tame in how the sub comes across. This is the first episode where Momo calls Aira “Baka onna” which is very rude and is roughly equal to “dumb bitch” or “skank” in English. This says a lot about Momo as kind of a crude delinquent girl, but she does love her nicknames :)
I only bring it up because you *may* hear it more and I couldn’t unhear it

Aira properly enters the show now. One of the most powerful episodes

Don't worry, the cliff hangers get worse lol. Been waiting for this one. I consider it the episode of the year. So good, and broke me so hard. The fact they fit such emotional story telling in a such a small amount of time needs to be studied. So good!
