Re:ZERO 3x16: "The Result of the Battle for Priestella" // Reaction and Discussion

hi everyone!!! Today we watched Season 3, episode 16 of Re:ZERO.... What is next?

RE:ZERO -Shorts!-

We did have a question and would love your feedback!

Are the break time -shorts- that we should watch the 25 listed under Crunchyroll's "Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Shorts"?

We are trying to make sure we are not missing anything! ^.^

Once we get some feedback, next week we plan on starting to watch them! We plan on watching a good chunk of them at a time, with room to talk about them as well! ^^

WATCH THE SHORTS FOR SURE There's 11 for Season 1 that cover Arc 1 & 2's cut content. Unfortunatley no break time for the 2nd half of Season 1 / Arc 3 but there's Break time's for all 25 Episodes of Season 2 and all 16 of Season 3

They never watch trailers and go in completely blind, which I honestly respect.

Short answer yes, there is a lot of canon informations in the shorts which couldn't fit into the main series. It's a treat and sets a lot of things into a better context. The fandom has a guide: https://rezerodb.com/break_time although there seems to be currently an issue with the db. And i wouldn't recommend to browse outside of that page because spoilers are real as the db covers the web novels and light novels primarily.

Not sure how many you would be willing to watch in one sitting but it shouldn't take more than 5 sessions at most (66 shorts divided by 5 is 13.2, times that by the 2 minutes and you get 26.4 minutes which is basically a normal re:zero episode). So yeah I think it is worth. Though, if you are willing to watch more then go ahead, I certainly won't complain if you try and fit them all into 3 or 4 sessions.

Worth watching, yes. Might be harder than it used to be to find them, though. A few months ago, I stumbled across a Re:Zero fansite offering fan translated shorts for S2 and S3 (which Crunchyroll doesn't carry), and I bookmarked it to share with reactors if they expressed interest. I went to find the link, but I guess the shorts are gone now. I hope you're able to find and react to them.

Basically, what thelightison said! There are many more than just what's listed on Crunchyroll, so don't be mistaken in thinking that's all of them. I highly recommend watching ALL of them, especially seasons two and three (majorly important information in some of those), if nothing else. As always, the unlicensed material (break-time for seasons two and three) can be found on a certain cat site, probably where you found the Monogatari entries. You CAN discover and watch every single break-time episode in good English, you just have to do a couple of searches, that's all! If you need any assistance in locating all of the episodes, or just want to be able to download them from a Google Drive link or something, let me know (through a direct message) and I can help make things super easy for ya'll!

Please watch S4's trailer too!

Unfortunately the licensing for the Re-Zero shorts ( also called break-times) is unnecessarily complicated. The first eleven episodes on Crunchyroll under the Re-Zero shorts page are the break time episodes from season 1, which include some additional world-building information that they couldn't fit in the show. The other 14 episodes are the Petit episodes, which are more comedy/character focused rather than providing additional worldbuilding. The Season 2 and Season 3 break-times have not been licensed in English. They are available on the Kadokawa Youtube channel in Japanese, but unfortunately they don't have English subtitles. The only way to find the English subs for the Season 2 and Season 3 break-times are through fansubs on unofficial streaming sites. Despite all this hassle, the break times are still very much worth watching as they include some pretty big plot/character details beyond just worldbuilding, so I would recommend seeking them out. Just to provide some additional information about what is what, I'll say: Re Zero break time season 1: First 11 episodes on Crunchyroll Re Zero Petit: Episodes 12-25 on Crunchyroll. Re Zero break time season 2: 25 episodes Re Zero break time season 3: 16 episodes

If nothing else, if reacting to shorts doesn't feel like a "good format" I would recommend watching them during your own time in preparation for season 4.

Saiki

I would recommend watching the shorts. There's quite a lot of information packed into them, plus they're pretty small. I think it they're like 2 minutes each? So you should be able to watch a lot of them in one go. One thing to pay attention though, I'm pretty sure crunchyroll only has the shorts for Season 1 of the anime... "Break time" season 2 and 3 would need to be watched from other sources.

Saiki

Yes, they will provide a good amount of Information, which will be good for future seasons' context.
