Ah! Good to know.

Thank you! I guess it's for the same reason they named the computer IBN and not IBM.

Small correction, it's European, not Swiss. CERN stands for "Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire" (actually now named Organisation Européenne pour la Recherche Nucléaire - European Organization for Nuclear Research - but they kept the acronym CERN for the lab). But it's based in Swizerland, yes, nearly on the French-Switzerland border (the major part of the ring tunnel for the LHC is actually in French territory). That's also why Kurisu was surprised that the reports weren't in French.

pretty sure it was deliberately misspelled for either legal reasons like Wc donalds in other shows, could also be to avoid defamation to the real organisation for anything they are suggesting the real CERN were doing at the time.

just wanna tell you guys that you can look at the intro. it won't spoil you anything cuz it's just throwing random bs. but whenever you guys reach the episode where everything is clear, try to watch the intro and it will give you more insight.

If you guys pay attention to the lyrics of the intro, you may notice something.

About Mayuri calling herself Okabe's hostage, I'm pretty sure it's not the first time and that she already said that but I dont remember to whom, maybe to Mr Brown ? Also, I have a question: does someone know why the anime (or the VN) changed the acronym from CERN to SERN? Is it for a legal issue, like "no we're not talking of the real world CERN, it's a fictional organisation that happens to have the same characteristics (LHC, etc.) as the real CERN", or is it to keep the real world pronunciation, because otherwise CERN would be pronunced KERN? (Sorry if it isn't clear, English isn't my native language) Also also, Ben makes a good point about the file mentioning "Birth: orphan", I never thought of that. Maybe it's because, since the goal of the experiment is to send someone back in time, their background is important to know to avoid anytime of grandfather paradox?

I remember my Physics high school teacher commending me for knowing of CERN and their particle accelerators. Little did he know, I only knew what Steins Gate told me lmao

Cern is actually a real life organization. And unlike maybe what Ben and Ana assume at this point, its Swiss, not American. Based on their theories they seem to think its based in America.
