@Adam Adamowicz Alright I'll pretend you're arguing in good faith and give you the answer you don't wanna hear. THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. The reason Eren chose genocide is because he's a petulant child who wants everything fixed forever instantly. That's not how any reasonable person thinks. Since talking Nazi's invokes Godwin's Law lets look to another example from WWII, the Japanese. Their society was so fanatically xenophobic that near the end of the war they were literally arming elementary school children with bamboo spears in preparation to die to the last man woman and child defending the mainland from the American and soon to be Russian invasion following their defeat in the pacific island hopping campaigns. We're talking the people who committed acts so utterly monstrous that even Nazi scientists were appalled. Guess what? A few generations later, with many those same people still alive, Japan became a prosperous and friendly member of the international community. Here's how ya do it. Step one, defeat them militarily. This is obvious, and Eren's first step of annihilating the global fleet? That part is completely justifiable. I'll even go further and say beelining directly to military targets further inland like the airship base is also within moral standards, even if it results in civilian casualites, that's just how war works. Now your enemy is neutered. The next step is what Eren isn't willing to do... simply because it's difficult, and killing is the easy way out. You need to integrate and educate. Set up exchange programs to have citiziens of different nations (especially the younger generation) intermingle on neutral ground. Foster mutual understanding and cooperation. Help rebuild the damage you've done to your enemy (in terms of infrastruture, not military). With the founding titan that part is even easier than real life. It's a long slow process but it WORKS. Even if I take at face value your exaggeration that the whole world wanted Paradise Genocided (Which if true WIlly wouldn't have needed his whole plan to get them on side), you'd be amazed at the massive cultural change than can be affected in a mere generation or two. It's not glamourous or edgy, but that's how you fix things. And the "most pro eldian politician in the world" was actually a marleyan politician in a marleyan port town that the Azumabito specifically picked out to ensure the Paradise Islanders had no choice to only work with them. She admits she easily could have done more to foster peace but chose not to in order to advance her own country's interests. The very fact that her country was willing to work with Eldians, and in fact felt the need to monopolize them disproves this propaganda that everyone everywhere wanted all eldians dead. The reason there was so much continued hatred is because the titans never stopped being used for conquest, even after the fall of the Eldian Empire. Now that Eren (and whomever his successor ends up being) controls all of them, they can finally make that choice. To break the cycle you don't need to kill everyone. Stopping the killing and actually giving peace a try works too. I could go on but this is a complicated topic, and I'm not interested in doing so with people who genuinely think genocide is the first resort.

@Anders Pike hell yeah we did put all of the Nazi's on trial and executed them. Also, we hunted them down until we've found every last one we could and executed them also. We literally genocided the Nazi's right back in their face. How is Eren doing anything else here exactly? ALL OF THE WORLD decided to genocide Eldians. Even the most pro-Eldians political group on the planet, said that Island must be hated and eradicated. What's wrong with your parallel is the fact that you forget only a handful of Germans, let alone peoples from other nations, embraced what Hitler was doing, let alone took an active part in his genocidal plans against jews. Most people were either forced to fight for him, or opposed him. That's not what the AOT world looks like. Eldians are LEAST persecuted in Marley, according to Gabi's friend Udo. Marleyan's people who enslave, torture and murder Eldians for fun on a day-to-day basis, are the least antagonistic country. It's worth keeping that in your mind when you see Eren flattening the world. When he says we need to restart history to have any future, he is right. If our world eventually become 99% Nazis, I think even you would agree with this statement.

How is it Eren's fault for stepping on children? The only tool for survival of his race is the Rumbling, the most broad and inaccurate tool of mass destruction possible. He either uses it, or his entire race is wiped from existance. The responsibility for the death of the children lies on their parents, who knew very well Eldians had a nuke button on their disposal and were still racist and hateful enough to declare genocidal war on them. Eren felt sorry for Ramzi and all other kids he had to crush. The anime made that very clear. But there was still no other way out of it for him and the rest of Eldians. There was only one party there that ever had a choice and it was Marleyans and the rest of the world. And they chose war. Yeah it's self defense. When a thug with a gun straps a baby to his chest and your only way to shoot him before he shoots you is kill both him and the baby, you have a right to shoot. It's not your fault baby is on the way to your survival. It's the fault of a guy who strapped it there and put it in front of your gun. All you are doing is defending yourself.

Do you have an alternative plan that doesn’t involve all Eldian’s eventually dying? Eren had two choices in this TV show, Attack on Titan isn’t the real world Anders Pike. Either he saves his people or he lets them die.

Yeah, remember how after WWII, since the Nazi's were genocidal, we murdered every single German? And then the french and swiss since they were nearby. Oh, and a few other continents, just to be safe? Yeah. That's exactly the right move. Jesus these people live in the same childish world of black and white, all or nothing as Eren.

Yo I can't stop watching Hange's final charge. It's so badass and it's like reminiscent of "Hero". Hange literally did what Levi, Armin and Erwin did during the fight in Shiganshina, all the way down to burning alive and doing beyblades.

Its definitely worth rewatching the show! However, maybe instead of taking up a slot in their schedule rewatching the entire thing, they can rewatch it in their free time and release some highlights every now and then. Kinda like a book club and every time they talk about something new they learned or noticed in the dub. They can also read through the comments here on Patreon, perhaps.
