July update 2

I didn’t want to made this post until everything was sorted out, so it took me a while.

Not much bad, but sad news happened some days ago. I flooded, thank god it wasn’t that bad, but it was pretty scary.

Let’s start from the beginning.

Several days ago, I was awake late at night just watching youtube on my computer, when it started to rain. The wind was so loud and strong that it could be literally be felt from inside the house. It was 11 pm when it started, and at around 11:30 pm hail started banging on my front door. Soon after, water started to enter from below the door, and I freaked out. Then moments later, from the roof, water started to leak. I knew the roof had leaks, and on past occasions I just placed a bucket or two where the water dropped, but today it started to leak from everywhere.

To put it on perspective, it was as if several small waterfalls were falling all over the room. Water started to drop on everything, even my computer. I hurriedly covered everything and unplugged everything (don’t worry, pc is fine). But then I noticed this wasn’t getting any better so I went to the roof and started to bucket out the water, in the middle of a thunder storm. To be honest, I was trembling and not because of the cold, I was really scared. It was the middle of the night and water was leaking all over my house, getting everything soaking wet, and water coming from the front door too.

Anyway, tired and cold, I somewhat finished with the water on the roof and came back to start on the water on the inside of the house. Electricity went out too :(

After taking a hot bath in the darkness, I went to see what a commotion was about in the front and saw several police cars and firefighter trucks right in front of my house and all along the street. By now it was past 1 am.

Never in my life I had seen so many police cars passing by, so I was wondering what it was about.

Next day after waking up I saw in the news that it really was a terrible storm, and the place that got hit the hardest was my neighborhood and the surroundings. I kid you not, that morning, there were over 300 police officers in my neighborhood.

Seems like I got the best part, some neighbors lost everything. I heard one say that her husband almost drowned. Cars were washed away by the rain, houses flooded, drains clogged. Actually, stinky water still comes out from the drain right outside my house.

I had never experienced something like that, neither did my city, which is why it happened. This wasn’t a city prepared for such a heavy downpour.

Anyway, the aftermath took a toll.

But now I’m all good.

I also want to thank you all, specially J., this month’s donations really helped me with fixing up the roof. I hope it won’t happen again.

Also, I promised 20 chapters for this month, and I will deliver, here are the first two!

The pic was after everything was over that night.
