Finally finished RE4!

It was so great! Thanks for sticking with the Resident Evil series everyone. Its been a lot of work but very fun :) I am in an editing slump so things are taking a little longer! I hope everyone is okay, I know this time of year can be really tough β™₯

Finally finished RE4!

"As a fan, when they announce a new resident evil game, what do you hope for?" Is an interesting question. I think for me personally, it has changed over time. At this point, I think a balance between horror, puzzle solving, and a little actions is nice. I loved RE7 for this reason (which btw, would be a good one for Halloween season 2024). It was such a surprise when details started to come out about 7 before it was released, and I think was my most anticipated original entry in the IP, at least as far as modern RE goes. 8 was kinda the same, but it was such a mix of "I love this" and "I hate this" when the game finally came out. In terms of the action oriented games, RE4 is a standout to me. It was a big departure when it was originally released, as it was the first one to really do the 3rd person action style. RE5 and 6 followed a similar approach, but I kinda felt like by that point it became a boulder punching gimmick and started loosing sight of what the franchise is. Not that I hate those games or anything, they just don't scratch the itch for me at the end of the day. The original RE Remake (the one that first came out for Gamecube, as well as it's various re-releases) Is a personal favorite, and has a lot of the same qualities as 7, wrapped in a slightly different package. Personally, I think RE remake, RE2R and RE7 are peak Resident Evil, but they are all pretty fun tbh.

This game is awesome, this playthrough is awesome, you are awesome. This was a great, great watch. Such a fun last episode (busted out laughing when you shot Ashley at the end, that was comedy gold). The DLC is a very good addition to the game, though not the longest content, still very good. For me, I'm OK with either style of RE. I love basically all mainline RE games, except for maybe 5, which was very fun in co-op but strayed even further from the horror and 6 which was just all shooty. I'm excited to see what RE9 holds in store for us. Pointing out a favourite part out of all three playthroughs is really tough. They were all enjoyable and all had great moments. Thanks for playing these, and can't wait to see what's next!

In this week's episode: Mike and Leon struggle to not shoot their friends. Another great first time playthrough! The impressive intuition and reflexes you posess, mixed with the playful editing, thoughtful and witty commentary, and a genuine appreciation for all the details (and treasures). You've got the touch, Amber! πŸ‘‰πŸ’₯ This game...though a departure from the genre and feel of its predecessors...it fucking slaps. Slap tier. A straight up classic which started as a Gamecube "exclusive" that's now been ported to nearly everything with a screen and inputs. And Capcom really delivered on this remake. They removed some sections and set pieces from the original, but added in new stuff to keep it fresh. They got rid of all the annoying quick time events and they improved Ashley's character. And then those sexy, heart-strumming bastards surprised us by (this doesn't count as a spoiler if you haven't played the original) adding a missing boss from the main game back into an expanded Ada campaign! And hot damn this game is purdy to look at 😍. Quite a few years back, a friend of mine recommended RE4 (and another game) at a time when I wasn't playing many video games. Guess I was just busy with other stuff. "Resident Evil? The games with the fixed camera angles, awkward controls and frustrating aiming?" He told me to watch my mouth, and insisted 4 was something different and I must play it. So I did. I of course got my ass handed to me by that first village section with the chainsaw guy. I'm like "This is too stressful. I'm delicate." But after that, I couldn't wait to see each new area. I played through that game multiple times in a row...which I never do. I cleared all the mercenaries maps with all characters. I was continually rewarded with new weapons until I could finally frolick through the village with an infinite rocket launcher, destroying every villager (and cow, oops!) in sight. I do have an appreciation for the other RE entries...2 is great, but this game unexpectedly brought me back to video games. Oh...and the other game he recommended was Katamari Damacy. He was a pretty good friend. I owe him a phone call and a smoothie or something.

It was a great playthrough to watch! If you're taking a break from RE I'd be really curious to see how you like the dead space remake. Personally it's one of my favorites as far as horror goes.

Oh jeez. Your question to us RE fans at the end is a hot button! Action or horror? Drama or camp? Survival or Puzzles? Body horror or corporate espionage? Really, I think it is a little bit of all of that that has our interest. For me, its the balance. The tight gameplay loop. The tension rubber-band. The pacing. The replay value. You were really starting to piece together the appeal at the end there. Becoming familiar with the game and playing through for higher ratings (and more prizes), is an entirely new and fun experience with more action and more tension, and its a grand puzzle in itself. You'll just have to try it and see. RE4 S rank requires you to beat the game in 4 hours or less! That means fewer treasures (limiting weapon upgrades), more risks, and finding a few short cuts as well. ;)

That DLC answers all your questions at the end there. If you decide to do it, try it on hardcore. I think you'll have more fun ;)

Great ending to the game. Looking forward to the dlc
