Subnautica Part 12!

Lol it took 9 hours to export this video and only 20 minutes to upload and process it to YouTube, so my laptop is bad at exporting but I have amazing internet here? Also, I am SO SICK, I have either caught a bug or I have food poisoning, either way, that was not a great weekend for me hahaha. I am slowly, accidentally, kind of turning these Patreon posts into mini diary entries it seems. But the new video is finally up. Now I am going to go sleep for the next few days.
Enjoy my great and long and exciting adventure with Sir Lucky Charm, the Cyclops. Thanks for the patience everyone!

Subnautica Part 12!

Awesome episode! I've been really enjoying your playthrough of this so far. Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling too well. I hope you get better soon. A little bit about the Cyclops. It's actually my favorite vehicle in the game, although it may appear to be quite cumbersome at first. I felt that since you've used it a good bit so far, that it's fair to give a few tips pertaining to the Cyclops specifically. It's a pretty long read! But hopefully you'll get a good idea of the usefulness of the cyclops when you're done reading. Tips: One of the greatest features about the cyclops is the ability to actually build certain things on it. If you use your builder, you'll find that you can build most of the things that you can build inside a normal base. This includes lockers, beds, fabricators, modification stations, radios, medical kit fabricators, battery chargers, and even indoor growbeds! Imagine traveling anywhere and just turning around to find some nicely grown marblemellons for you to chomp on. The only things that you can't build are larger structures like the bioreactor or water filtration plant and things that you'd place on the outside like solar panels. Other than that, you can make it into your own little mobile base! It's quite amazing! You probably noticed that your energy was going down quite a bit as you were piloting Luck Charm around. This is for a couple reason: First, whenever you dock a vehicle into the cylcops that isn't full charged, the vehicle will draw energy from the cyclops to charge it. Second and probably the biggest reason you were losing energy; whenever the cylcops is in silent mode, it drains energy very quckly. It actually drains it so fast that I hesitate to use silent running cause I don't want to lose so much energy. Third, having no upgrades in the cyclops can drain the energy fairly quickly. I recommend installing the Cyclops Engine Efficency Module as soon as possible. This module will reduce power consumption when piloting by 300%! You actually may have already acquired this module from the Aurora. Check around your storage lockers to see if you still have it. Once you acquire kyanite,l you can make the thermal reactor module, which will actually charge your cyclops if it's in any hot area like a heat vent. Another tip is about the radar to the right of you when you're piloting. Although the range of it isn't super great, it still allows you to see creatures potentially coming up from behind. Reading and understanding the radar takes a bit of getting used to, but it can be quite helpful in sticky situations. The cyclops functions a little differently when it comes to agroing (attracting) creatures. While the seamoth and prawn suit will simply attract creatures when it's in their sight range, the cyclops will only attract creatures if it's making more noise than what the creature wants. If your cylcops is off, it won't make any noise, and therefore will never attract or get attacked by any creatures. When a creature that can possibly attack your cylcops is in range of your radar, it will show up as a yellow moving dot. If it's yellow, it means it hasn't agroed onto your cyclops yet. If it's in sight range, and your cyclops makes too much noise, the dot will turn red, meaning that the creature is agroed to you and will attack you. When a dot turns red, I'd recommend immediately turning off your cyclops. The creature may still atack once, but then it'll lose interest and turn yellow again. Don't worry too much about gettingg attacked, though. Your cyclops has a decent amount of health, and any creature that can attack it that isn't a leviathan does negligible amounts of damage to it. If it is a leviathan, then it'll still take a good 5 or 6 hits from it before destroying your cyclops. But again, once you get hit, you can simply turn off your cyclops, and go outside to repair the damage to it. The Cyclops' max depth may not seem much, but getting a mk1 or even mk2 depth module will show you that you can go quite deep with it. Deeper than you';ve been so far even :). Sorry for the essay! As you can probably tell, I'm pretty passinate about the cyclops. These are just a few points and suggestions whree you'll hopefully give sir Lucky charm another chance. If you still feel like the cylcops is not for you, then that's totally fair. It is your playthrough after all :).

Great episode! Thanks Amber. Take all the time you need to get better, we will of course be here when you do!

I've never been a fan of the Cyclops, personally. I find the Sea Moth to be much more maneuverable, and just generally more fun to get around. I think the Cyclops is mostly just there to be a mobile base, more than anything.

Tormuse

I parked my Seamoth down by the tree one day and the rays actually pushed it pass crush depth. That was a long swim home :-(

Rogue Variable

I have never enjoyed watching someone be completely terrified so much. If your interested, the PDA has an entry in it for the Cyclopes that will give you some good information on how it works. Great job on another great episode. Hope you feel better soon.

Nice bit of exploring!! Hope you feel better soon!! It's funny, in a previous episode you stopped over the sea dragon skeleton in the green river area and turned the exact opposite direction, preventing you from discovering the Cove Tree on that stint! I was laughing! Your face and reactions when discovering this world and it's creatures is priceless! Love it!! You'll find the droids you~ ....er ....resources you're looking for, or most of them, around the Cove Tree. Highly recommended to place a small base there, or near there, with a scanner room attached to it, (plus it's handy upgrades), and you'll find most of the resources you'll ever need. Especially if you have the Prawnsuit with the drill arm there with you. I suggest you build a Scanner room at your current base and learn how it works, then just deconstruct it when you go back deeper, taking it with you. Mind you, it's not resource heavy to construct, so easy enough to build one wherever you need one. Down deep, heat is your best power source, so a thermal generator is the best way to go. Tip for traveling in Lucky Charm: Definitely wise to have extra powercells. I actually had an extra 12 with me at all times! Not necessary, but handy. When moving around Leviathans, put it into slow mode with Silent Running activated. Silent running eats up energy quick though, so you only want to use it to just get clear of the nasty baddies. If they agro on you, drop a Creature Decoy, or two, and activate Emergency Speed. Again, Emergency Speed eats up a lot of energy, so use only long enough to clear the baddy! (This is where the extra powercells come in handy. Emergency evasion, then replenish power!) Once you put the Thermal Reactor Module upgrade in Lucky Charm you can just park 'er over a heat vent at your destination to recharge. With the drill arm on your Prawnsuit, it becomes easier to gather copper and such for making extra batteries/powercells. (Plus a scanner room, once again, to make finding those deposits easy to find). Hint: Try using your Habitat builder inside Lucky Charm. ;)

Take a break if you need to - get well soon! Also, yes. Do make the grappling arm for the prawn suit as you planned. So glad No. 3 is still going strong.

Mark Robson

Yay! More Subnautica! Hope you feel better soon! Thanks for sharing what's going on in your life

VacationWolf

Hope you feel better soon Amber.

Steve WF

I like the mini diary entries

David Langston

Oh no! I hope you feel better very soon.

Chris DePrisco

uh-oh, sorry you're feeling worse again, don't go overdoing it but always great to get to watch your videos, hope you're able to take some rest :) and idk about everyone else but it's always nice to see your "diary entries", we like to know what's happening in the world of Amber!

Smallg

Hope you start feeling better soon!

Jade Raven

Hope you get better quickly! Was a lot of fun to watch you having a staring contest with the Ghost. Also, I think almost everyone feels like you did with the Cyclops. Overprotective but also somehow resigned to the fact that it will probably get destroyed... But you can do it Amber

J. P.

A definitely solid plan of action should be to upgrade the Prawn-suit more (drill arm is a must!), and then to make a small rest-up habitat near the biiiig egg-tree in the Lost River. Critters are pretty passive in that small zone, there are heat-sources to get power from all around, AND it connects to the next area (as you saw). From there, you'll be able to explore deeper with less stress. However, and I can't stress this enough : don't make the mistake of moving your entire main habitat there. That'd be annoying in case you need to get back to the surface. Keep it simple, like a place to breath and drop stuff you found around. Also, do play around with the Scanner room! It's useful!

Goblinounours

I think its just a slow old boy haha, it gets the job done when i'm on the move though! Even if I have to wait for those long exports

Sym

Get well soon? Being sick sucks, it makes every feel awful :( Do you think the laptop you are using is underperforming with the exports, or is the laptop just naturally slow? Or is it a HDD or other storage that is a bottleneck?

Thomas Mc

Get better Amber! :3

Goblinounours

I do honestly love the mini diary entries, it's like a bonus perk for patrons! So sorry to hear about your condition, I really hope you feel better soon!

Ethan Micallef

I was gonna say finally, but it seems you had a rough time so i won't, lol. Speedy recovery, Amber!

sundmark67

Yay! I am ready to dive in. Heh... "dive"... eheheh. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

Trolez

Get well soon! Fun fact: based on friends and content creators, my experience is that about 1 person out of 3 builds an outpost in the tree cove 😹 (myself included) I guess it just feels too cozy, apart from being conveniently located.

Lalo Martins

i'm sorry to hear you've had such a rough weekend :( make sure to get plenty of rest!

ChilledGricken

Hell yes, MORE SUBNAUTICA! Oh dear, that doesn't sound very nice. Have a good sleep and hope you feel better soon. Quick tip, the reason the Cyclops was using so much power was because you were using silent running. It will devour the power if used for long stretches, so make sure to do so sparingly.
