Since the beginning of my writing journey, I have posted twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:03 AM CST. Each chapter is roughly between 1750-2300 words, usually ending up at around 1850-2100.
I was thinking about swapping to a once-a-week posting schedule but also doubling or even adding a little more (around 5k words) to the chapters.
This is a big change, and it's not like I'm dead set about actually doing this, but I wanted to see what you all thought beforehand.
I am on the 'slower' side of posters for RoyalRoad, with many doing 2k chapters 3-5x a week, but I've seen enough of the horror stories about stories falling off a cliff for several months because of burnout. I am not burnt out, but was just thinking about how longer chapters could do and contain more within them.
It's easy to say 'Just write more per chapter' but two thousand words that flow and have 'actual' content inside is not as simple as spewing words onto a page. I think, on average, it takes between 3-5 hours to finish a chapter. The more action packed chapters, like the most recent Basilisk fight, took closer to 5-6. Simpler chapters, such as when Lee makes a new spell, or teaches some people his magic, are faster.
TLDR: Wanted your thoughts about posting schedule/content count.
Also, new cover.
