Poll for a March Mini Video
Added 2023-03-01 07:53:06 +0000 UTCSorry if you got a double email, had to remake the poll to allow for multiple choice! Please laugh directly at me.
I'm calling 'em mini videos now! 6 minutes or less. Let's go with that.
You can check the March newsletter for more info, but basically you're voting on a shorter video to do within March/April! This'll be released early on Patreon and "queued" for wider release on Youtube down the line.
The options are basically a bunch of ideas I had, plus some suggested by those in the $10 tier. The final results will help me decide, and if there's a clear winner I'll definitely do it, but past that I'll do whatever video fits best into my schedule!
Here's the deets on all the options:
- Learn 3D Software with your Local Library: Mentioned in the previous newsletter, this is a PSA about free access to Lynda.com through your library.
- What Program Do I Use? Maya vs Blender: This isn't really a Maya vs Blender video, more like advice to not worry about what software to use at a beginner level. Two hammers might be different brands, but they're both hammers.
- Flash Games (Nickelodeon Clickamajigs, Postopia, etc.): For a while I've wanted to stream old flash games, but they could also work really well for a video too. In particular, I wanted to look at Nickelodeon Clickamajigs, and Postopia's advertisement games (much of which is lost media)
- Choppy Animation is Sometimes Better: I wanna make a video about how good animating on 4's looks.
- The World of Animation Smears: Animation smears are cool! Let's make a video about them.
- Rhythm Heaven Minigame Ranking/Tier List: I'm throwing this in there as a dumb video I wanted to make eons ago that might fit as a shorter video for exactly this purpose.
- A video on Rain World and Procedural Animation in games (Suggested by Erik Richter): Procedural animation is a really interesting topic that doesn't get talked about quite enough in the Youtube space. It's not something I'm terribly familiar with, but I'm good friends with a few people who basically do it as a job and could help!
- A video on 3D Toon Shaders (Suggested by Alamarus): A quick video on toon shaders and the basic idea behind them. This wouldn't go too in-depth as some professionals might (for ex. I'm not a shader expert, so I couldn't tell you how to do Arcane-style shaders or something) but I can definitely get into the basics behind them and the way I use them.
