Hello everyone I hope you all have been keeping well, safe, and happy!! First off I want to say thank you, each and everyone of you who where so patient with me as I was dealing with some important things IRL that took up much of my time for a while. That being said the proverbial dust has settled and things are stable on my end once more so I'm back to making art!! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
I've been working with 3D now for around a month now and I finally felt comfortable enough with my framing and posing to really rely on my imagination to try to come up with my next piece. Normally I used a combination of reference photos I've amassed and saved over the years with my recently budding 3D skills, but now I was able to forsake nearly half of that idea making process with results I am more than overjoyed with. Allow me now to walk you through each step of the process to completing this piece! (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
When making my 3D ref, I knew I wanted them on Belle's couch (zzz devs please im begging you to release more locations so I don't have to draw her room again lmfao) and I wanted to play with depth of field as well as try to make an "intimate" POV from the "camera" that was viewing the scene. Luckily I was able to find free models for the couch, soda cans, and the laptop so it was rather simple to set the scene! ( ᵕᴗᵕ)⁾⁾
Once I was happy with my 3D ref I began to, what almost what felt like whittling out the background as well as define the figures with more anatomical depth than the models gave me. From there it was all about doing several passes and adding detail, starting with the background and ending with their facial expressions. Kind of like working in a spiral-like flow now that I think about it. The face is typically the most important part of a piece so I find that saving it for last really helps with the "quality" of them rather than the other way around where I try to make everything else fit with whatever faces I have drawn. ( ー̀ε ー́ )
After blocking out my colors it was simple to go back and render everything while bouncing between soft brushes and harder brushes. Just like before, I focused on the background first and ended with their faces last. I'm really getting the hang of that now I feel although I think I say that with every post here lol. One can never stop growing though, skills included!! Perhaps in a year or two I will need to go back and redo that JaneBelle comic because I can tell how much my skills have grown from when I first started it; but with that being said, the next page will be done sometimes this upcoming week! (๑>•̀๑)
Thank you all again for supporting my art and for being so sweet and kind to me. Means more than I can ever say! I truly hope you all keep well. ♡
