Regarding Bang PD (sorry, long musings)... I actually don't think he's trying to create the next BTS. Years ago in an interview, he said that it wouldn't be possible and that no one knows how to replicate such a group, they're unique. I do think that he is more of a gardener. He works to provide fertile ground for the seeds of talent, then waits to see what happens. That does seem to be his strategy with the groups that started with BigHit (then HYBE). I have the impression that he is looking for young people who are self-starters, that already have the drive to work hard to perfect their skills and learn new ones. The ones that don't have to be nagged or monitored. I vaguely remember an article or video that pointed out that he isn't necessarily looking for the absolute best talent for his teams. If anything, people who are used to being top rated might already have large egos, making things stressful for others. On the other hand, if a person is used to having to compete against the best to improve, they will have an extra level of hunger and ambition to work harder for success. Bang also recognized/acknowledged how bonded the team was, and that bond would help them weather the challenges that would come. Every person in the team is needed, wanted, and contributes to the emotional and mental stability of the group. I also think that having the 'middle child' become the leader was a stroke of luck for the team. RM has the responsibility, vision, and drive, but he also has 3 hyungs who have his back and can share some of the burdens for the team. He doesn't have to be both the oldest brother and leader, he can defer to a hyung and let them take care of things. This allows him to continue striving to develop his creative talents, knowing that he has trusted people with shared experiences in his corner. BTS is definitely lightning in a bottle. Like the Beatles. That's the interestingly delusional part of the industry. You can't just find a group of people with the same basic talents, throw them together, and expect the same results. There isn't a magic manufacturing formula, but entertainment execs keep thinking it's just that simple as that. But at least Bang PD knows it's not.
