EP232. A nervous departure! …work on TALLY HO & starting a long voyage shorthanded.

In this video we get ready to leave Ensenada and head South - onwards towards the Panama Canal and our goal of eventually taking part in the Fastnet Race 2027. For this next leg down the coast of Baja California we have decided to travel with just 2 people on board, and we face some nerves about if we handle the boat on our own and get enough sleep!

Before we set sail, we get our dinghy back and check out the new paintjob, we work on the deck, we rig up a new spinnaker, and we even get out to see some Mexican Wrestling!

Thought I'd add a brief thought I had watching this episode. In past posts you've asked about what people like to see and how the videos transition out of purely fabrication type videos. In those posts I had mentioned the downfalls of a show like This Old House and how that continues to fail from what made it originally successful. In many ways this project has been some combination of Grand Designs and the original This Old House episodes. In this most recent video I see you pretty clearly transitioning out of that type of "fabrication" or design video. What I see now is something much closer to Bourdain. We're looking at sailing culture through the lens of boat building. The characters you meet through daily, weekly, monthly chores and the places you find yourself for those jobs seem to be what can make this new era useful and interesting. This is a seamless integration of sailing chores and requirements and the transitional tales I think you want to tell. Thanks for these.
