Do you regret the Panama route yet to Uk? The Fleet of 19’ plywood boats has made it to Durban from Panama and will be up the Atlantic by spring . Check them out here https://minigloberace.com/tough-test-serious-challenges-struggling-to-cape-town-mcintyre-2025-mgr/ Cheers Warren

I was the Virgin Islands last week for my first time. It's hot and muggy there especially if your from Washington state like us. Even the natives are sweating.

Having lived on the island of Okinawa, set in tropical climes in the East China Sea, it was 98 degrees and 98 % humidity during summers. We did learn after a time to live with the oppressive heat (I’m from the Pacific NW), and even play baseball. I was a runner for 40 years, and ran 5 miles a day in the furnace for three years of my stay. Sailing was a respite from the heat, but we always slept on deck, as it was simply too hot below. I remember the heat, but not experiencing that anymore. My sympathies!

Spinnaker? I don't recall being introduced to that sail. Please share the story of how it is rigged and how you deploy around everything else on board. Best wishes for good winds and following seas.

La Paz can be very chilly in the winter. You will notice a major cooling in Dec. & Jan if you stay there that long. I have a photo of our boat in La Paz in Jan. with snow/hail on the deck.

Second comment on heat: It gets a LOT hotter later on. Once you're south of the Gulf of Tehuantepec, the wind dies and it is genuinely sweltering, even in winter. We sailed as much as we could through Costa Rica and were only making 12 miles a day. We finally gave up and just bought more fuel.
