Sunset at Sea (high res download)

Current position N24°59', W112°39'.

A wonderful passage so far, with calm weather and easy downwind sailing.

We had a beautiful sunset last night. If you look closely you can see another hitchhiker on the very top of the topmast!

I have a thought about your jib and your jib topsail as I look at this magnificent photograph. Because the sheet for your jib topsail has to be about mid ships, it's not pulling the clew out at the correct angle so your leech is tight while the foot of the sail is still loose. You can't move the sheet any further back because obviously you have a mainsail to contend with. But the shape of the sail you're currently using as your jib might work much better as the jib topsail because it has a longer leech and shorter foot, and the sail you're using as the jib topsail might work equally well as the jib because the leech and foot are relatively the same size. You could swap these two sails out and I think they would trim better. Just my little piece of unsolicited advice.

So does the wind instrument still work after having the stowaway roost on it?
