Wii U Gamepad Development Vlog 3

Hey everyone, so this is a really quick update for you guys. Just wanted to talk about some stuff I've added to Vanilla, a few things I've learned along the way, and a few things I'm thinking of pursuing next. This is a relatively short video, but don't worry, I'll have a lot to talk about in the next update!

It is linked in the previous Vlog :)

Can't find the GitHub repo, can you link it here?

Yaroslav Syubayev

Hell yeah!

James C.

Would it be possible to use this as the other way around? As in sending video to the gamepad?

Micah Bennett

which WiFi adapter did you use for this video?

Kat Tschan

I think it's a text editor.

Štěpán Balážik

Im curious if a hardware version is made will it support the IR emitters (Sensor Bar) and the wii u gamepads ability to turn them on and off as needed.

Wizard Kitty

very unrelated, but what video editor do you use?

Jacob Strelnikov

$300 for what? 1 capture card. seems over priced for a screen copy

Would be nice to have a Flatpak build on Flathub, not sure where that would fall on the priority list though.

QwertyChouskie

On the GitHub page, there are prebuilt releases for both x86_64 and aarch64

Hi. I'm just wondering what the process would be of getting this installed on Steam Deck (I don't see it in the Discover store) Would I have to compile it from source (cause idk how to do that lol) or is there a prebuilt version that I should be able to run on steam deck relatively simply.

I think you're right, there is some slight video stutter (not counting the bits where I accidentally recorded in 30 FPS instead of 60). I *think* it might be something related to the Wi-Fi adapter I'm using in this video but I couldn't say for sure. I'll look into it more

MattKC

Just pointing out that I'm seeing very subtle frametime stutters in the gameplay feed of this video. I don't know whether that's from packet loss from the console, something to do with how Vanilla is processing frames, the capture footage used in video edit (don't some Wii U games run at 59fps?), or even if my browser is just bad at video playback. I've never owned a Wii U so I am unsure how seamless the official gamepad's feed was. Anyway, it's just something to note and keep on top of.
