Well, I needed the song to come together/ the groove of it. Generally speaking compression can do that and I wanted to see how far some settings would go. Also, I am focussing on dusty sounds and one drumbus compressor is the way to go for that

Well, the ride was again way too forward and wasn't really a ride. When you play a real ride the tones flow into each other. Same thing as the tamborines really, we need real sounds that have real recording to make it sound a bit more flowy. Addictive drums is pretty good btw :)

It started to sound really good towards end. Question: why did you think 'smack' compression was called for? Can you maybe unpick why the compressions settings serve the creative purpose of the song?

Question on that ride/HH you weren't a fan of: what about it specifically was bothersome? Was it too tonal or domineering in the front of the mix? Wasn't super clear. T.I.A.
