Rule of thumb is the emotional intent of the song, second clean it up after with an eq accordingly. Make sure to experiment with convolution reverb to really focus on the intent of the song.

Guido, I had some follow ups on reverb sends. Does this make sense to you https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz0id7DCUS7/?igshid=q0nn99k2i1wq ... I may be in a bad habit of 1. Panning my reverb sends a few ticks left or right (not more than 3-5 Left or Right) to eek out some extra space in the centre for prominent elements. Is that problematic? 2. I tend to widen most of my chorus/reverb/delay sends using Utility M/S mode in order to fill sides with room sound, FX tails etc. This BeatSpot post seems to suggest that narrowing the stereo width of certain sends actually brings space and clarity to a mix. I can see why that might work on a nice gated snare for example that benefits from less width. In general though, are my 1. and 2. bad habits and do you have any comments on that Insta post? Thx and happy Friday!

thanks Guido. That did answer my question. I think it was especially helpful thinking about emotion/mood of the track and how it relates to reverb EQ. Good rule of thumb and will start using M4L Conv reverb!
