It was quite clever to show the 3 characters stories from their different places in time, running up to the present day where they all came together. By doing it that way, we do not just encounter the Bard Jaskier who says: "I have been singing Geralts praises for 18 years." We have actually seen it when they met for the first time and Geralt told him where to go. We know the minstrals perseverance by staying with him. Then we were shown The Witchers connection with Ciri's family before her birth in the banquet episode. We also saw Yennefer as she was a child, became a sorcerer and court magician for 30 years, and then also meeting Geralt for the first time in that village with the Djinn before the dragon hunt. So we have witnessed the character's backstories and we know why they interact with each other in the ways that they do. There was so much potential for this show.
