You asked for our opinion about what Mau did. From a tactical point of view she was right to "roll the dice" and try to diffuse the situation. If she had not then every one of our guys there on the ground would be dead. They are just criminals and are not military trained. If they had been trained then they would have tried to avoid that close situation altogether. The "enemy" are only 20 feet away. Our "backup" is 100 feet away on a balcony and our people are in their line of fire. As for weapons, Amos is holding a wrench and his crime friend only has a handgun. The crooks have automatic weapons and body armour. If they start shooting at that range then all of our people in front of the house are dead. Then it comes down to who is the most accurate shot at a range of 100 feet. In that situation you really want to massively increase the range so that our people have a chance to survive. In the ideal world the "enemy" would be at the treeline (as Amos said) and then need to cross open ground to get to us, while our people can be behind cover picking them off, which is MUCH better than standing 20 feet away in the open. But these are just criminals and they do not know many tactics. That guy who was standing in an open doorway, lit up like a Christmas tree, was asking for a sniper's round. It is unfortunate for them that the shuttle was going to take off or they could have taken their time and shot the enemy as they approached while firing from covered positions. But this is a TV show. If they could all have safely taken off without a shot being fired then it would have been less visually dramatic. :-)

final thought - yeah, this arc really pushes Naomi. Something I'll try to revisit once you're done with the show as a whole, there's more to talk about with the books that didn't get adapted.
