The storyline of Alaric trying to resurrect Jo with the Phoenix Stone 'leads to other things' lets just say! Matt's ongoing experiences, trying to protect Mystic Falls against vampires 'Leads to other things'! All these seemingly disparate story lines, all the time jumps backwards and forwards will all come together and make sense later.
