Beauty & the Beast 1X12: Cold Turkey
Added 2025-12-15 22:43:15 +0000 UTCVincent and Alex are on a romantic getaway in a cabin, when Catherine interrupts, despite her promise to let Vincent decide for himself what he wants.
Muirfield arrives and because of Vincent turning into a beast to save him and Catherine, he loses Alex because she realizes that he is not the man she fell in love with.
Cat helps send her away, so she will be safe from Muirfield.
Vincent tries to make things right with Catherine, but she tells him she will help protect him; however because he was possibly going to leave her for Alex and his old life, she tells him she needs some time to heal first, before she can trust him again.
Evan discovers a bug in his office, which makes him start to believe J.T.'s earlier warnings.
****I'm so frustrated with Vincent. Honestly, I do kind of get where he was coming from, but I'm annoyed that Alex's reaction to see him 'transform' is what pushed him to decide that Cat was right for him.

Just to preface, I am 1000% on Cat's side here. I agree, Vincent is so frustrating in this, but being who he is and hating who he is makes his choices understandable, so I'm not really mad. It wasn't really a choice between Alex or Catherine, but between Dr. Vincent or "Monster" Vincent and what he believes Alex and Catherine each feels about them, the doctor and the monster. You would think that Catherine would be enough for him to choose who he is now and be with her considering how he feels about her, but at the end of day he doesn't trust that Catherine or anyone could really love a monster. We see this by him constantly twisting/questioning her words or her actions and by his hesitancy in telling Alex who he really is. Vincent and Alex grew up together, fell in love and planned to get married. He's been gone for 10 years, but she still hasn't stopped loving him, is still stuck in the past and still hasn't moved on. They could essentially just pick back up where they left off, which we do see them doing. They are both showing they love him, just different versions of him. And considering he hates one version of himself and doesn't trust or probably understand Cat's feelings for the part of himself he hates, his behavior is understandable. Loving Vincent means accepting ALL of him. That goes for anyone, even himself. I think he gets that now. Seeing Alex's reaction followed by JT telling him what Catherine did for him (again!), finally knocked some sense into his head. His issues are his issues. They are not Catherine's. While the timing is suspect because the epiphany happens after the fact, I do believe him when he says she wasn't his default/second choice because we see his conflict, but like you said his issues are not Catherine's fault.
