Marine biologist Ben Powell is forced to confront and believe the stories with the arrival of a strange young woman named Ryn who Ben finds crossing the road naked as he gets her into some clothes.
She is secretly a mermaid in search of her sister who has been captured, but struggles with lack of communication with humans.
Ryn's older sister and Chris, a crew member and fisherman on board Bristol Cove's well-known fishing boat the North Star, were captured by the military.
When Ryn unexpectedly requires marine biologist Ben Powell and his girlfriend Madeline "Maddie" Bishop's aid to help her find her sister. Things start to go downhill in the peaceful town of Bristol Cove, and the two are forced to work together to locate both Ryn's sister and Chris.
