tbf, the message in the last episode wasn't really about personal gain. It was that their job is to "protect the innocent, not punish the guilty". I do agree that the smart spell was cast for personal gain tho, but there were no consequences for it since it wasn't ultimately used for that. Personal gain in this show gets a little murky tbh
