The Vampire Diaries 6X1: I'll Remember
Added 2025-08-28 19:00:09 +0000 UTCThis episode was mostly fine, I guess. It didn't really give me what I wanted, but, to fair, I don't really know what I want.
So, it's been several months since the finale and everyone is sort of scattered about. Elena is still at college training to be doctor, she's mourned Bonnie, but Damon, not so much. Caroline has dropped out and is living right on the border of Mystic Falls trying everything she can to get the town back. Stefan is in Georgia, he's been trying to find a witch to help us get Damon back, but he's not really communicating with anyone. Alaric is now a vampire and teaching occult studies at Whitmore. And Jeremy is just doing nothing. Drinking, eating, playing video games and sleeping with random girls.
Elena has gotten some magical herbs from Luke that allow her to basically hallucinate that she and Damon are together. And she's doing it all the damn time. For whatever reason, these herbs seem to increase her bloodlust and she's finding herself killing random people because she's draining them (to be fair, she has no idea she's doing this). Luke can see that it's becoming a problem and cuts her off. This enrages her. And she tosses his room trying to find more of the herbs.
After she's found by Caroline almost killing a girl on the edge of town, she confesses what she's been doing and why she hasn't mourned Damon. Caroline tells her she's got to stop. She takes one more dose to tell Damon thank you and goodbye. But he doesn't leave. She get pissed and trashes the crypt (?) she's in. She sinks down sobbing and Damon shows up to comfort her. Well, that didn't work.
Then she call Stefan (who has been avoiding her- and everyone) to beg him to give her some hope. Anything at all. But he tells her he stopped looking for Damon and she should too. Now, right before this, Caroline had called him to tell him about Elena. So, I feel like this might not be true. And he's just telling Elena this to help her get through this, while he keeps looking. I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like Stefan would just quit.
Elena is devastated by this and goes to Alaric and asks him to compel her to forget she was ever in love with Damon (somehow he's now an Original?). So, of course, will figure out how to get him back and he'll be in love with her and not vice versa. Seems like she could just be compelled into remembering, but that a future issue.
Meanwhile, Tyler, who is human again (but still has the werewolf gene) is full of rage and trying not to kill anyone to activate it. Is he? I kind of feel like he might want to be a werewolf again. I don't have any proof of that. Just sort of a feeling I get.
And at the end of the episode, we see the real Damon and Bonnie sort of living in domestic bliss. Damon makes her pancakes and they read the newspaper across from each other. No idea where they are, but they sort of seem happy?
