Virgin River 3X9: The Sun Also Rises
Added 2025-08-27 22:44:14 +0000 UTCOMG. What is it with the shows this week making me cry? I'm so sorry. I spent half of this episode in tears.
So, we start with Brie waking up with blood all over. She immediately calls Jack, who calls Mel and they get her to the clinic. Turns out, she had a miscarriage. And the worst part about it, she didn't even know that she was pregnant. I assume it's Brady's? They set her up back above the bar at get ready to go to Lily's funeral.
Jack tells Mel he'll pick her up, but she's still skeptical about their relationship (meaning, they aren't really in one right now- not that Jack's not trying). But he convinces her it's fine to just pick her up and bring her. When he gets to the cabin, he tells her she looks beautiful and they do some flirting about how nice they both look.
Hope can't make it back for the funeral, but tells Doc she'll be back in time for the reception. He heads over to check on Tara, who (obviously) is not doing that well. She tells him she doesn't think she could speak at the funeral and he encourages her to try, but she's unsure. At the funeral, lots of people speak (Dana cries. Repeatedly. Over and over. A lot), and just before they are about to end, Tara decides she wants to try. She can't make it through the speech, but Mel comes up and reads the rest of it for her.
Later, at the reception, Tara is hiding away with Chloe when Mel checks on her. She tells her she feels weak for not being able to finish the speech, but Mel tells her she's the opposite. She wasn't able to even try to speak at Mark's funeral and she's regretted it ever since. I feel very differently about this. My mom and I both knew there would be no way we'd be able to speak at my little brother's funeral. So, I wrote something up and we had the priest read it. Neither of us ever felt like it was the wrong choice. But, that's why people are different and you can't judge them.
Also, at the reception, Lizzie runs up to Ricky all excited to tell him that they've got a free trip to Tulum (I had to look up where that is; it's Mexico, if you didn't know either). Her friend is getting married and everything is paid for. But, he tells her can't go and finally tells her the truth, he's enlisting in the Marines and doesn't know where he'll be then. (Oh, he got a 97 on the entrance exam making him top of the class). She's pissed because he's been lying to her and storms off. He also tells Preacher who suggests he kept it a secret because he's not sure about it. I really thought he was all in until this conversation; now I'm not so sure.
While everyone is at the reception, Brady comes to see Brie and does his best to try to win her back. She's very resistant, but he tells her he loves her (and has never loved anyone else) and begs for a second chance. Nothing was definitive, but I think she might give it to him. Jack is gonna love that.
Back at the reception, Charmaine tells Jack about Todd and moving to Eureka. Jack restrains form saying 'I told you so.' (I never could have). But encourages her to talk to him. He if doesn't want to listen to her, than she should find someone who does. THAT SOMEONE IS NOT JACK, CHARMAINE.
At the end of the night, Mel tells Jack that breaking is the safe choice for them. But she loves him and that's not what her heart is telling her to do. Fingers crossed, them getting back together is real this time.
In the middle of the night, Doc gets woken up by knocking on the clinic door. (Hope texted and told him she wanted to be alone and he should sleep at the clinic. That said, we still haven't actually seen her). When he opens the door, the police are there and tells him there's been an accident. So, assuming it's Hope, one of two things have happened: she completely fine (there are so many 'oh shit, someone is gonna die!' situations on this show and the characters are fine the next episode; or she's dead (It does seem like this characters might not come back and I supposed this would be a convenient way to explain it.
I mean, there's also the possibility that it's not Hope, but it probably is, right?
