Hmmm. I was so sure this title was going to relate to Martha being a rat (and it still might turn out that way), and I was so surprised when we got a rat poisoned by this new biochemical bacteria. Also, the tension in this episode was intense.

So Martha is brought to a 'safe house' (I assume), by Phillip and she ends up needing to call in to work. Stan and Aderholt are suspicious and give her a call. She doesn't answer, so they FBI their way into her apartment. They don't really find anything of note, so they head over to Clark's apartment, where they also find nothing. But, a suspicious nothing. No answering tapes, no photographs. Just a very sterile place.

Back at the safe house, Martha is freaking out and in walks Gabriel. He tries to calm her down, but if Clark wasn't able to do it, he certainly can't. He leaves Martha in the kitchen to chat with Gabriel. It doesn't go well. Gabriel is not pleased. Especially when he finds out that Martha knows his true face. He argues that she should go back to work like nothing happened, but Philip refuses. He claims they know and if she goes back, it's over for her.

Elizabeth shows up in her 'sister' outfit and tries to calm Martha down. But she sort of immediately knows that she's involved in the operation. Rather than answer, Elizabeth offers to get her some wine and heads into the kitchen. Where she finds Philip. Dressed and looking like Philip. And she literally stands there FOREVER before she finally asks about it. And he finally tells her that he showed her his real face about 3 weeks ago. They were in a situation and he didn't know what to do.

She then tries to send him home claiming it's her night to work, be he tells her it's bet if he stays with her for the night. So, Elizabeth heads home. He tries to talk to Martha once they are alone. She tries to convince him they can just go back to their lives, but that's not possible. So, they end up having (what I think is unprotected) sex. I can totally see that burning them down the road. I mean, assuming Martha doesn't end up dead, which I think is more than a 50% shot. At some point during this, Philip tells her he's KGB.

The next day, Philip has to head out to meet William for a new virus. While he's gone, Martha awakes and finds both him and her gun missing (Philip took it). When Gabriel approaches her, she rushes out. Telling him she doesn't trust him and to get away from her. And, if he attempts to get closer to her, she'll scream and tell everyone that he is KGB. He's kind of got no choice at that point but to let her go. However, she knows way too much. They can't let her live, can they?

Also, did I misunderstand, or is the Rezidentura trying to capture Martha and bring her to Russia?
