The Mentalist 3X8: Ball of Fire

Ooh, and we're back to entertaining, exciting episodes. Huzzah!

So CBI is bored and Jane has decided that the best way to deal with this is to go buy fruit. Unfortunately, while he's looking at said fruit, some guy tries to shove him in the trunk of his car. The kidnapper and the owner of the fruit stand exchange shots and the poor fruit guy dies. But, during the melee, Patrick manages to run away and hide in a barn long enough to get a call off to Lisbon.

However, he still ends up in some basement handcuffed to a pipe. He tries to convince the guy that he can take away some of the pain from his gun shot wound and starts to work his Jane talking magic. But then, this other girl (one who showed up as a witness at the fruit stand and gave CBI bad info so they would look in the opposite direction) shows up and tells the guy not to listen to anything Jane says. And shoots and kills him. She rants a bit about how shitty Jane is, shoots her gun a little bit and goes back upstairs.

On the outside, the CBI (plus Grace's FBI dude) are busy trying to track him down. But they aren't really having much luck. They go every case file plus every complaint that was ever filed against him. Finally, they catch a break. A guy in prison claims he knows something so Lisbon heads down to talk to him.

Through this, we find out that the girl holding Jane had her father put away by him and is pissed. So we find her address and break in. But it's empty and hasn't been used in a while; everything is full of dust. While on her way back to the office, Lisbon gets a call from Jane's phone, but when she answers it, it's Rachel who gives her instructions on how to get to the cabin. As soon as they get there, she handcuffs her against a pipe as well and goes outside to torch the house.

Jane's plan is to pretend to kill Lisbon with some sort of knife that he found in the dead guy's pocket. Then, Lisbon (I think it was Lisbon) starts yelling for help. And for some insane reason, Rachel comes down to check on them. No idea why since she was just gonna kill them anyway, but once down there, Lisbon attacks. Unfortunately, Rachel just moves away (we are still handcuffed after all). But thankfully, Hightower shows up and puts a couple of bullets in Rachel's back, saving us.

And we get a very lovely scene of the two of them on the couch debating which of them is a better detective, basically. It was so much fun. I want this all the time between the two of them.
