Okay so, it turns out Brie is mostly fine. She did mix the Xanax and wine (and took some extra Xanax as well), but promises Mel she's learned her lesson there. We do finally get a little bit of backstory. Apparently, she was dating this lawyer and they had a really bad break up. She ended up quitting her job so she didn't have to see him in court.

While Mel and Jack are trying to saw a giant tree at the Lumberjack Games, they are chatting about Brie and her situation. Which leads to them sort of chatting about their situation. Mel claims that sometimes when people are in love or get too close, they pull away. Jack asks if she's talking about them and she sort of insinuates she might be.

Later, while they are doing some treetop race, they continue talking. She's sort of pushing for an answer about the baby thing, even though she knows she shouldn't. But, she claims she didn't realize how hard it was going to be for her not getting an answer for him. He says he understands, but it seems like she needs to know ASAP so if he says 'no' she can move on to plan B. She insists there is no plan B. I don't know. Unless Jack 100% really, truly wants this baby with Mel, I don't know how this can end well. If he says yes, but doesn't really mean it, he's going to be miserable and resent her. If he says no and they continue the relationship as is, she's going to be miserable and resent him. This seems like the kind of fundamental difference relationships do not survive.

And speaking of relationships, fucking Charmaine is pawning off her dog on jack because Todd is not a dog person. No complaints from me there (I am the world's biggest not dog person). But, this should have been something they figured out before they got engaged. And Jack agrees to take this dog without talking to Mel about it. He's living in her house! Both Todd and Charmaine belong together. (But I'm pretty sure they are gonna break up and then she'll be back to meddling in Jack and Mel's life.

Christopher ends up getting lost at the event. The whole town is looking for him and just as they are about to call the cops, they find him at the playground eating a turkey leg. It was fairly anticlimactic.

Doc is scared that he's not going to be able to shoot the clay disc thing because he can't see it. Even though he encouraged Lily to come forward with her issues so she's got a support system, he refuses to do the same for himself. So, he just enters the contest (he's won the last few years) and hopes for the best. And it works out fine since he wins. Maybe his eyes aren't as bad as they thought? (not that it matters, this disease is degenerative).

And as the episode ends, Mel gets a call about an emergency at Lily's and they dash off.

This show (when people aren't getting shot and attacked) is so comfy cozy. It's gonna be on that rewatch list for sure.
