The Originals 1X20: A Closer Walk With Thee
Added 2025-08-19 22:30:00 +0000 UTCOkay, so, I FINALLY got another Elijah and Hayley kiss, but sadly, I don't think it's going anywhere for right now. Sad.
Turns out both Klaus and Elijah are having nightmares about their dad. At first, Klaus just thinks it's subconscious telling him not to be a shit dad like his was. But, it turns out that the events over on TVD are bleeding in over here. The other side is collapsing and causing dear old dad to be close to this side. And, as a last act before he blinks out of existence, he wants to use it to torture his kids. Isn't this asshole grand?
And it's not just the two of them. The other dark haired curly witch that isn't Davina (why can I not remember this poor girl's name?) does some sort of spell on Hayley to kill baby (the ancestors want it dead). Hayley ends up collapsing at the funeral procession for Kieran and Elijah and Klaus grab her bring her inside. They have no idea what's wrong with her, but the baby's heart is beating and her's is not.
Genevieve wanders over and offers to help. They are not making any progress until she seems to realize what's going on and sends the boy to fetch some herbs and things. An unconscious Hayley is faced with Mikael who is trying to kill her and the baby. He doesn't want any part of the abomination that is Klaus to reproduce. However, Hayley is a fighter and isn't willing to go down without a fight. She gets a bunch of good hits in while he continues to insult Klaus.
Eventually, Genevieve manages to break whatever spell has been used and it seems like both Hayley and the baby are fine. She does, however, finally agree to move back into the compound. When Klaus asks her about what his dad said to her, she just tells him, a bunch of stuff that wasn't true. I love this bit of kindness of Hayley. Klaus shows her the nursery that he's made for the child and tells her he'd really love her to stay with them after the baby is born. Sometime later, she and Elijah finally kiss. Thank god. But he zooms away as soon as it's over. Sad.
Afterwards, Elijah tells Genevieve that he doesn't forgive her for driving their sister away, but he's grateful that he helped Hayley. He asks if she can help make her a moonstone ring (or whatever we're calling those) and in return, he'll let her look at his mother's spell book, which she's been after to a good long while now.
Genevieve agrees and heads back to wherever the witches stay. She immediately runs into dark haired not Davina, and jumps down her throat. (I was 100% sure the two of them planned this attack on Hayley so Genevieve could show up and save the day. Which means, the brothers owe her a favor, but here's where I found out I was wrong). She calls her stupid and tells her that the baby can't be killed until it is born. And just stay out of the way let her take care of it.
And speaking of Davina, she's been trying to do a seance to talk to Timothy, but instead, she finds Mikael. The first time he just shatters all the windows and disappears. But, at the end of the episode, he shows up again. He tells Davina that if she brings him back to life, he can help her get rid of Klaus forever. Um, is Davina at all powerful enough for that?
Also, similar to TVD this week, I thought this was the penultimate episode, but there are actually 2 more. Not sure why I was under this impression. 🤷♀️
