Virgin River 3X5: Kindling
Added 2025-08-19 00:26:01 +0000 UTCCan Charmaine get worse? I don't think so. I had previously felt a little guilty about hoping she dies in childbirth. I no longer feel guilty. She and this asshole deserve each other.
So, while Jack doesn't jump happily at the thought of another baby right now, he definitely doesn't say no either. And Mel feels guilty for asking (and confides in Joey that she's afraid she's scared him away- I wouldn't worry about that) and tries to tell him that she understands why he wouldn't want this. He agrees to think about it though.
Doc finally tells Mel that he's hiring another doctor because he is retiring, but he doesn't get to give her any detail because a patient comes in. However, they interview a doctor that they both really like and think would be good for the practice. But, she's also wanted by someone else and Doc has to make a decision by tomorrow (good news is, she'd rather be in Virgin River). He claims he needs more time, but it looks like he's out of it.
Mel, feels caught of guard by the news, confides in Jack and asks him not to say anything. But, as soon as Doc comes to the bar, Jack mentions it. And Doc loses his damn mind over it. He's yelling about how it's no body's business. He cancels his dinner order and angrily storms out of the bar.
At this point, Mel shows up to pick up Brie for drinks. However, once she gets upstairs, Brie is disheveled and kind of a mess. There is an empty wine glass on the dresser (and we know she just took a Xanax). She collapses before she can even make it out the door. Thankfully, Mel is there so at least someone who is trained can help.
Earlier, Charmaine the Bitch stopped by (in her fancy new car, talking about her private birthing suite) telling Jack that fiancé wants to meet him for lunch (or drinks or whatever it is). In, like, an hour. He tells her he's busy for the next two days, but implies he can do it after that. She's livid and adamant that they do it today.
And they do. And I think it's even worse than Charmaine's conversation with him. This is all set up so fiancé can try to buy Jack's kids. (That's a little dramatic, but not untrue). He wants to adopt them and cut Jack out of their lives completely. And to do this, he offers Jack money. Jack is (obviously) livid and dumbfounded. He tosses a bunch of cash at asshole fiancé, claims he or his children can't be bought, and stalks off. As he should. I mean, he probably should have hit him too, but, you know.
Lizzie wants her and Ricky to get a place of their own. I immediately wondered how she was going to pay for it (she works part time in a bakery truck), but then she tells us her dad is still supporting so. So, I was all great. But, Ricky was all like, that's a big step. So Lizzie tries to back peddle and tells him to forget she even mentioned it. (But it's gonna come up again. Grandma is tired of Lizzie using all the hot water and she needs to go somewhere).
Doc finally convinces Lily that it's time to share her diagnose with other people. (After he assured Lily that Mel kept her secret). She agrees to tell her daughter.
Oh, and we find out that Jack has an ex wife! How has no one mentioned her before now?
