The Fosters 4X16: The Long Haul
Added 2025-08-19 00:07:02 +0000 UTCSo this seemed like a bit of a filler episode (which I feel like we really needed). Things have been so crazy tense lately that I think we could all use a bit of a breather. Not that important stuff didn't happen in this episode, but it wasn't all so life or death.
Stef's mother and her boyfriend are here and we find out they are going to get married. Her mom seems pretty pleased about it, until she rushes over to Stef and begs her to say no when he asks for her hand. She doesn't want to marry him, but got in too deep. Stef refuses and tells her mom she's got to tell him. But, instead, they have sex and she promises to do it after dinner the next day.
However, the next day brings William (the boyfriend) and Mariana decorating the yard for the wedding. And William talking about all the people they invited. Then at the 'rehearsal dinner' he says such nice things that she decides she should marry him after all. But, when it's time, she's hiding in the bathroom. Apparently, she loved Stef's father too. Until they got married. And she hated him more and more everyday.
On an aside, Stef and Lena's divorce just came through (I totally forgot about that), so we decide that they'll get remarried at the ceremony instead of Stef's mom. This seemed really sweet when I watched but now, I realize that most likely, this wedding is not valid. But hey, everyone had a nice time.
Outside of wedding stuff, Callie is still trying to find evidence of Troy killing his grandmother. She finds out who his supervisor was (the one who provided his alibi) and she and AJ head down there. AJ ends up going in to talk to him and they find out that his supervisor is also his girlfriend. No conflict of interest there. But, before they can drive away, Troy comes out screaming about harassment. He's banging on the windows and threatening them. Eventually, they manage to get away. But AJ is really not thrilled with the whole situation. He's on team Stef, Callie just stay out of it.
We also do the queer sex ed class. Which ends up with, like, 15 or so kids. Lena had only gotten two permission slips so she only expected two kids. But, most of the kids weren't out yet, so they hadn't asked for permission. Lena decided not to turn them away. Noah ends up showing up and Jude is surprised that he had so many questions seeing as he's had sex before. It turns out, Noah's had sexual experiences, but not penetrative sex (as far as I understand). Both he and Jude decide they aren't ready for that, but want to try other things.
And then we've got the Emma and Jesus of it all. Emma cannot stand the fact that Jesus doesn't know what she did. But, she also can't bear to tell him. So, she brings him a letter and Brandon gets it to him. However, he can't read it. His eyesight is still all swirly. Defeated (and upset, he thinks she's going to break up with him), he shoves it aside. But Stef's mom wanders over and she offers to read it to him. Jesus accepts and she reads some if it, but skips the part about the pregnancy and the abortion.
Jesus is so relived that she's not breaking up with him that he texts her telling her everything is fine. He's not mad and they don't need to talk about it. When she shows up for the wedding, he and Emma are a little awkward (and she seems to want to make sure he's really okay with everything, but he really doesn't want to talk about it). But, it's kind of okay.
But, Stef's mom pulls her aside to tell her that she read the letter. But, she didn't read the important part to Jesus, so he still doesn't know. She also tells her she just wanted to make sure she was okay after everything and she would be there if she needed her.
When Emma goes back out, she and Jesus are looking for their place settings. And this is when Emma realizes that Jesus can no longer read. Like, at all.
And this was a reprieve episode!

This was such a good episode and one of my favourite semi filler episodes in the show. Love Stef's mother she is always a delight to have whenever she comes around and im really happy she found the one for her, just someone who truly cares for and loves her to the fullest that she deserves especially after being with Stef's dad who was all around not really a great person. Definetily got a bit emotinal when stef and Lena got married again. Even though they have their issues I really love them together and hope they only go up from here in terms of their relationship.
