OMG. I LOVED this episode. I love the Jane Plan. I love Grace's new romance. I love how Jane thought the right thing to do was have no one end up in jail for this murder.

Okay so, as soon as we roll up on the body, Jane is immediately unconcerned. He claims he should have been in prison and doesn't care who killed him. He leaves the room and goes to nap in the car. (He slept in the 'office' last night so he's exhausted). Some TV news lady (Nancy Grace? Jerry Springer?) catches him on camera and the department wants Jane involved going ahead.

When they go to chat with the woman (she happens to have a connection to the dead guy), Jane sneaks off to the green room where he runs into the husband of the girl the dead guy killed, and the dead guy's mom. Husband has this super detached zen vibe. Jane doesn't buy it.

Cho and Rigsby are checking out the halfway house the dead guy was staying at. While inspecting his room, the run into a guy who is hiding under the bed. Rigsby (seemingly trying to impress Grace who isn't here), jumps off the building in order to tackle the guy as he runs away. We find out, he used to be friends with the dead guy and he was owed 22k plus interest and was just trying to get it back. He wouldn't have killed him because then he'd never get his money. He also mentions that dead guy had a girlfriend.

When we meet with her (and her husband) we find out that he was her first love and they had reconnected when she found out he was in prison. They'd been penpals and had met up (or maybe were planning to meet up as soon as he got out- I can't remember). The husband is visually upset about this as the emails were pretty graphic.

Jane, meanwhile, goes to see the widow at a gun range. He still doesn't seem to buy the zen attitude, but does listen while he explains to Jane that shooting a gun is therapeutic and helped him get over his wife's rape and murder.

The TV host from earlier tells Jane to come on her show and she'll give him access to whatever he needs to solve the murder. He requests all the suspects in the front row, plus the widow and the dude's mother back on air. And pretty much nothing else. Jane Plan activated.

During the show, everyone has candles and Jane claims that whoever killed him will have their candle light up. Eventually, the widow's son's candle lights. He swears it wasn't him. And his dad (the widow) admits to shooting the guy several times in the head. However, when they get him to the station, he claims that was true but the guy was already dead when he shot him.

Turns out, it was the husband of the girl who was his pen pal. He met up with him and asked him to stay away from his wife. The guy refused, so he offered to pay him, but he didn't think the money was high enough. He told him he was going to steal his wife, rape her nad then kill her. Like he did with the other woman. The guy lost his temper (obviously) and bashed him with a spiked bottle.

Jane works it out so the charges are dropped against both men. And the widow shows up with a gift for Jane. It's a gun. This is after he told Jane that it was totally worth it to hunt down and 'kill' this guy after he raped and murdered his wife. Interesting. It's not like Jane has made it a secret that he plans to kill Red John when he finally finds him.
