Virgin River 2X7: Breaking Point

Okay, so we start with Mel, on the anniversary of her husband's death, delivering a healthy baby boy. She seems so happy. I want this for her all the time.

But then, we switch to her next task being figuring out a birth plan for Jack and Charmaine. Fun. She wants to give birth at home, but Jack is very against it. They lay out their arguments, Mel says some stuff, and then leaves them to discuss while she walks Charmaine's dog (Yes. Charmaine's. I refuse to accept that it is both her and Jack's dog). When she gets back, Jack is on the porch and asks her to reason with Charmaine.

Mel ends up telling her the truth about her stillbirth. Charmaine is shocked, and willing to listen. Mel reminds her that she's a nurse and a midwife, her husband was a doctor, they did everything right and things still went wrong. They end up compromising with Charmaine giving birth at the office with Mel and Doc present; along with an ambulance standing by. (This seems stupid to me. The hospital is 2 hours away. How is that going to fix anything? But I'm neither a doctor, nor have I ever given birth so 🤷‍♀️).

Hope agrees to have dinner in a public location with Doc. She's not super happy about it, but makes reservations for them at Jack's. But Doc surprises her with dinner plans further away, understanding that she's not ready to present them to world yet. However, Muriel shows up (apparently she's where Doc heard about the place) and she's invited to join them. What? Why? Whose idea was this?

When Hope heads to the lady's room, Muriel tries to get Doc to join her on a wine tasting cruise (?). He offers to hook her up with some people he knows in the area. But, when Hope comes back, the two are huddled together (it looks worse than it is- Doc can't read the bill). She stalks over and stakes her territory by thrusting herself in between them and kissing Doc. I wish she would have punched Muriel, but that's my own issue.

We also find out the body in the woods is not Wes. (I was so sure it was). It's the guy who came after Mel in the office. However, the sheriff claims they've got dogs all over the area looking for evidence and Preacher is freaked out. He meets with Connie and, for whatever reason, she's ready with tons of true crime stats, that seems to make him feel a little better. Plus, they decide to come up with alibis for him and Paige (which they totally should have done already).

Ricky is continuing to get swept up in Lizzie. I hate this for him.

And Mel. She was doing so well on the anniversary. But then, she got some mail about Mark's life insurance and it broke her. She was trying so hard. Thankfully, Jack had shown up with a thank you latte. He found her in bed, crying and was able to offer some support. Seriously. Can these two just be a thing already? No one cares about Charmaine. Boo.
