I didn't even attempt to pronounce that title. I'm sure it's French, but that's where my language skills end. 😳 Also, I was so sure that Davina was going to be fine. I really like he character and I was sad to see her go. Also, I was so confused as to what happened at the end of this episode, but now writing this, I think I might have figured it out. But we'll get there.
So, Davina is growing increasingly unstable. She's still pissed at Marcel (rightfully so) and wants to kill Klaus for killing Tim. While she's busy trying to attack Marcel at every turn, she suddenly starts throwing up dirt (I was so sure this was related to Sophie digging up Celeste, but it wasn't so) and causing earthquakes. She has no hope of controlling all this power.
Elijah is stopped by Hayley who tells him about her deal with Sophie and Elijah is super upset. Hayley tries to apologize, but Elijah claims all Celeste wanted was to be left alone in death. Now she's all part of things. Elijah is upset that he broke her promise to her. (Dude, it is not your fault. You had no idea about any of this. You can be upset at Hayley, but not at yourself. At least, not for this).
He heads out to talk the witches. But before he gets there, Sophie is talking to Sabine about how it's time to finish the harvest. She can become an elder by channeling Celeste's spirit through her and using that to finish the ritual. Elijah than shows up and starts telling them about Davina, and she claims the ritual must be done sooner rather than later. She's going to bring about the four elements. First was earth, which we're dealing with now. Then wind, water, and fire. Klaus thinks it's convenient that the way to stop this is by giving Sophie what she wants, but she convinces him that if they don't take care of this, Davina will destroy the whole city.
Since we're all still basically on board with believing that the young witches will be resurrected, we try to convince Davina that this is the right thing to do. She's against it at first. And Rebekah ends up sedating her, as her power is less violent when she's calm. Eventually, Marcel grabs her and hides her to keep them from forcing her to do the ritual.
Turns out, Sophie can't get any power off of Celeste, she claims someone has already taken it. So, without another super powerful witch, we're out of luck. But, Elijah then offers his mother, who Klaus has in a coffin in the basement. It takes a bit of convincing, but he gets Klaus and Rebekah to agree and they do some ritual with the priest so Sophie can channel her. But we still can't find Davina.
Thankfully, Rebekah, via Thierry, finds them and tries to convince Marcel to take her. He refuses, but Davina tells him it's okay. She lived a full and happy life, even if it was short. He carries her over the graveyard where all the other dead girls are waiting. (Where were they keeping them?) Sophie asks Davina if she believes in the harvest. She says yes, and then Sophie slits her throat. It's fairly unceremonious and she dies in Marcel's arms. Then, Sophie asks the ancient witches to bring back the chosen ones and nothing happens. The four girls remain dead.
Marcel is pissed and zooms back to the compound and starts trashing it. Klaus shows up and Marcel blames him (no surprise there, it's mostly his fault). But Klaus immediately starts going on about other shit and Marcel is destroyed. Finally, FINALLY Klaus shows some empathy and gives Marcel what he really needs. A god damn hug.
Hayley again tries to apologize to Elijah, and he seems willingly to forgive her after she claims she'd rather focus on the living than the dead. She'll just take what she wants from this life. She apologizes again and goes to leave, but Elijah grabs her and is about to kiss her, when at the last moment, he decides against it. Just kiss her! I like this relationship. I know they think it's complicated with her carrying Klaus's kid, but they can barely tolerate each other. Guys. It's fine.
Then we find out where all the power went. He's where I'm guessing. I was 100% confused when I watched it, but now I'm wondering if these four witches were the actual chosen ones. We asked the elders to resurrect the chosen ones, maybe we had the wrong ones. I am still very confused how Celeste is in Sabine's body, but that's a probably for another day.
