The Mentalist 2X13: Redline

You guys. I really, really loved the chemistry between Jane and the super crazy rich dude. It was really fun to watch. Plus, I love the concept that he was totally cool to destroy his 300k vehicle for the fun of the chase. That seems right up Jane's alley too. I hope the two of them becomes friends.

So, we've got a dead saleswoman in the truck of a car on the dealer showroom floor. Jane immediately has fun pitting the rest of the salesmen against each other. (Fun fact: I worked at an RV dealership maybe 20 years ago. It's actually kind of this cutthroat. I did the motor vehicle so I wasn't involved in any of the sales shenanigans).

Jane is busy snooping through the fridge at the dealership and makes the top salesman nervous. He's very protective of his food. (Plus, he's chugging antacid). This guys tells Jane multiple times to stay away from his food.

However this conversation does lead them to the dead girl's boyfriend. Some wanna be rockstar. To me, it seems like he's not a suspect from the beginning. She was basically his gravy train (even if he hated it). It would make zero sense for him to kill her. But when CSI shows up, he's in the middle of a rage. He's very distraught about her death. He claimed guys hit on her all the time and gave her gifts that she gave away or donated. Jane notices an expensive piece of artwork on the wall. And boyfriend says they kept it to pay for their eventually wedding.

The guy who gave her the art is the super rich guy I mentioned before. He seems to know immediately that Jane is a psychic and does not think very highly of him. Jane puts on a show to prove he can guess where the rich dude hid his ring in a crowd. (It was in a women's boobs. Fun).

Jane seems to realize that this rich dude is not the murder, but is having fun being part of the action. He's super rich and everything in his life is boring now. So Jane recruits him for his ploy. He tells the guy he can drive by emotion (that is such a shortcut to what actually happened). He blindfolds himself and drives the rich guy's crazy expensive car all by holding his hand on rich guy's shoulder for guidance. Jane ends up not crashing and crows is thrilled. But, when they get out of the car, it 'accidentally' rolls into the water and is destroyed. I could not understand why this dude wasn't more upset.

Turns out, this is all part of Jane's plan. He needed to get access to the car dealership to find the car that killed the dead girl. But, he's rejected as he's too poor. But now he's owes rich guy a new car. So he vouches for him. Once on the lot, the get the murder (the #2 salesguy) to lead them to the murder car. It's pretty epic. He tries to run once he realizes he's caught but Cho is all over it.

We find out that, #2 salesman has been poisoning #1 salesman so he can get in the lead. Dead girl found out and was gonna turn him in, so he killed her. The episode is actually much better than the resolution sounds.

At the end of the episode, Lisbon decides that she never heard Grace and Rigsby claim they were dating. Which, would be great, if they hadn't spent the whole episode fighting. Can we just skip their relationship and jump to Lisbon and Jane, please?
