Virgin River 1X8: Into the Light

Okay, so we've got a huge storm, which apparently, isn't all that uncommon here. Mel is woken up from a nightmare, to find all the power out. The owner of the B&B checks on her and tells her that in times like these, everyone in town hangs out at Jack's Bar. Mel insists she'll be fine where she is, but she's told without heat, it will get very cold, very quickly. But, she still decides to stay.

Joey calls her after hearing about the weather in Virgin River. And she encourages her to go to the bar. But Mel doesn't want to drive in the rain, so Joey suggests she walk. She decides to take her up on it. However, her umbrella breaks along the way and she shows up at the bar soaking wet.

And speaking of the bar, people are just camped out everywhere. Playing cards, sewing, chatting. It's just like a giant slumber party. It actually looks kind of fun. Plus, I love storms, so that definitely adds to the ambiance.

Jack brings her upstairs and sets her up with some dry clothes. She tells him she should explain about the night before (you know, when she told him her husband was dead and it was her fault). He asks if she wants to and she says no, and he's cool with that. When she gets downstairs, she runs into the tow truck guy whose hand looks terrible. She and Jack bring him to the office so she can reset the bone.

Afterwards, Jack tells her there is something he wants to show her. And he takes her to the cabin that is finally finished. It's adorable. I want to live in it. Someone tell Dan to get me this cabin please. She's so pleased and overwhelmed that she kisses Jack. He double checks that this is what she wants and she claims it is. The two continue kissing. There is zero chance they are giving this to me drama free, right?

Especially since Charmaine dropped off a box of Jack's stuff with Hope. Along with a letter, which she reads (seriously, come on, Hope). No idea what was in the letter, but really, really hoping it's not that she's pregnant. that would really throw a wrench into things. But, it's gotta be something bad, right?

Elsewhere, Preacher is busy looking up Paige online. He finds nothing on Paige, but on the ID he found in the car, she was wanted for assault, something else, and kidnapping. This is probably her 'stealing' her kid away from an abuse ex, right? For whatever reason, I'm determined to give this woman the benefit of the doubt. Later, Paige shows up and asks Preacher if she can put some pies in the fridge. He agrees and asks her who Michelle is, but she's already gone back outside.

You guys. Cross your fingers that I just get happy Jack and Mel for a little while. I know TV shows love drama, but you know what, it's okay for couples to find drama in ways that don't involve breaking up constantly. Why does TV not seem to understand this?
