The Mentalist 2X12: Bleeding Heart

So CBI is being interviewed for some kind of positive PR thing. No one is particularly happy about. Jane is downright miserable. Lisbon agrees, reluctantly, but tells them they can't come out into the field, only in the office.

They head out to the case and find the PR girl for the mayor's office dead. During a live groundbreaking of a new complex, they dug up the PR girl. The first thing we do is head to her apartment, which seems undisturbed, minus a missing laptop. Lisbon also told them to look for the necklace she was probably wearing when she was killed, but Jane tells her it's long gone and they won't find it.

Afterwards, Jane and Lisbon head over to talk to the mayor. They run into her assistant first, who tells them that the dead girl was very much a loner. No boyfriends, no friends. And her cat died. However, Jane finds her appointment book is chocked full. And there was a super special entry for the next day. The mayor claims she's meeting with the board about kayaking or something just as insane. The mayor then starts talking about how some activists are threatening the groundbreaking, and she's sure one of them killed the dead girl.

Cho and Rigsby head over to talk to the construction guy on the project, who's upset that things have been delayed. But, he also called the dead girl 10 times the day before. He claims the office was supposed to give him 10 million, but dead girl was holding back on it and he wanted to know why. All of a sudden, some sort of explosive fire thing, crashes through the window of the trailer. The construction guy is on fire. The door is stuck. Cho manages to toss a chair through the window and get them all to safety. Once outside, the see the mark of the activists who have been threatening the mayor.

The mayor then tells them that dead girl had a lover and we should be talking to him. But no one seems to know anything about that.

Back at the office, Jane feels bad about snapping at the camera people, so he apologizes to them and offers to take them out for tacos. However, while eating, the activist's van pulls up, two guys in masks jump out and kidnap Jane. They walk him blindfolded through the woods to a cabin. Once inside, Jasper (the head of the activist group) tells him to tell everyone that he didn't kill anyone. It's taking the message away from saving the environment.

Jane then insinuates he knows who the guy in the mask is. And the dude freaks out. He ends up taking his mask off and he begs Jane to tell him how he knew. And Jane is all, it's obvious. You sound like you, use the same expressions, have the same mannerisms, and build. It's the mayor's assistant. Cho and Rigsby grab an accomplice and get him to tell them where Jasper might have taken Jane. They show up at the cabin, but Jasper escapes.

So now, Jane time begins. They are staking out Jasper's house waiting for the warrant to come through. Lisbon has graciously allowed the camera people to tag along for the arrest. While they're waiting, Jane chats with them. He reveals that he knows he's the killer and asks him to empty his pocket. When he refuses, he reaches in and grabs the necklace. Then he has Cho arrest him.

Turns out, the dead girl was planning to expose the mayor for taking bribes at the kayak meeting. Camera guy was pissed because he'd asked her to look into the mayor so he could get his big break and she didn't share any of that info with him. When he found it on her laptop, they got into a fight about it, and he ended up killing her. This should have been his story not hers. Both he and the mayor get arrested. Huzzah! And Jasper gets a reduced sentence for speaking out against them.

Back at the office, Grace and Rigsby tell everyone that they are together. Apparently, the only one who didn't know was Lisbon (and that includes the people in the office not on the team). However, she claims she doesn't know how she's going to handle this.
