Virgin River 1X7: If Truth Be Told

Okay so, Joey decides to head home. Mel tries to convince her to stay (and also offers to go back with her), but Joey claims she needs to do this on her own. She doesn't know if her marriage is worth fighting for, but she'll figure it out. However, she does say that she now understands why Mel wants to stay, so I call it a win.

Once she's gone, Mel heads over the bar when Ricky gets a call that his diabetic grandma needs him. He tries to leave, but Jack tells him to stay and he and Mel will go take care of her. When they get there, they find her barely conscious on the floor. She's been neglecting her blood sugar levels and passed out. Apparently, she hasn't been so good at taking care of herself since her husband died (10 years ago). They get her to the hospital and Mel ends up having a flashback of her husband being there. We see her covered in blood and begging with the staff to let her back to see him.

Afterwards, Jack brings her to an arcade to try to cheer her up. It works and the two have a nice time. However, after he drops her off at home, she sinks back into her flashbacks. And we see the continuation of the flashback. She's pacing around the waiting room until the doctor finally comes out and tells her that her husband is dead. She cries and slips off her wedding ring, leaving it on the end table.

Meanwhile, Jack goes to talk to Charmaine and finally tells her how he feel. Which isn't what she wants to hear. She loves him. He doesn't feel the same. She blames Mel, but he denies it. I agree with him. It's obvious that he's got feeling for Mel, but I don't think they had anything to do with him not having feelings for Charmaine. I think they finally, officially, break up (if they were even ever actually together).

When he leaves, he finds Mel's gloves in his truck and decides to drop them back off to her. Once he enters her room, he immediately sees her ring on the table. She claims it was time. He says maybe not, they can still make things right. But nope. She tells him he's dead. And it's her fault. I'm 100% sure it's not her fault. Maybe accidentally, and she's trying to blame herself, but I'm sure this isn't, like, homicide, or anything.
