The Vampire Diaries 5X5: Monster's Ball

I was so happy at the end of this episode. And then I wasn't. WTF. Why won't this woman die? (And in practical terms, if we can kill off Katherine, this poor actress only has to do one job and not two). That said, I did really love her asking if she was in hell when the first thing she saw was Elena and Damon.

So, we're at some sort of college costume party. Caroline is with Tyler, Elena is with Damon, Caroline bought Stefan a costume, and Tessa has shown up to try and find Silas. Elena runs into some guy (we saw him earlier) who is mourning Megan. When Elena compels him to tell her about it, he claims everyone around him dies. She compels him to forget the conversation and she leaves.

Caroline is busy trying to convince Tyler that college is gonna be great. He keeps trying to talk to her about it, but she's so happy he's back, he doesn't really know how to deal with it. Eventually, he tells her that he's only here because Klaus is allowing it. And he killed his mom so he's got to go take care of him. Caroline begs him to love her more than he hates Klaus, but Tyler leaves. And since she told him if he goes, it's over forever between them, I guess that's that for the two of them.

Damon and Jermey decide that since Silas wants to die, and Bonnie wants to live, they will figure out a way to swap them. Bonnie is vehemently against this, but the boys don't really care what she's got to say. After talking to Silas, he tells Damon that all he needs to do to make this work, is to kill Stefan.

After Damon snaps Stefan's neck, the link between the two of them is severed and Silas is able to use his mind control again. He finds Tessa and pretends to be Stefan, trying to get the info he needs out of her (how to take down the veil, basically). But it turns out, she doesn't know either. However, shortly after, she realizes she's talking to Silas and not Stefan and reaches into his chest to stop his heart.

He ends up back at the boarding house and Damon calls Katherine over so he can feed her to Silas. Once he's full of her blood, Katherine will die and Silas will be mortal. Then he can die and live forever with his love Amara. (And somehow swap his death with Bonnie's). That's the plan at least. But, after Damon feeds Katherine to him, she doesn't die. Seriously. How many lives does this girl have? What else don't we know about this?

Also, the professor basically tells Elena that they know she and her friends are vampires and they should pack up and go home. It's not safe here for them. But, he was also busy experimenting on Jesse earlier in the episode. I have no idea what this dude is about. He's definitely not good, but he might think he's doing this for the greater good. Maybe. Also, I feel like I've already seen this storyline in another show.
