Okay, so this wasn't my favorite episode, but I also don't have anything bad to say about it.
It's Callie's birthday and they've planned a small party with the family, Robert, and Sophia. The morning of, Callie asks the moms if she can buy herself a car for her birthday, but they shoot her down. They tell her she doesn't have enough for a safe car and then she'd have to pay for insurance and gas, which they are concerned she also can't afford.
Mariana, then, presents her with $600 as a birthday gift (this has to be because she feels guilty for sleeping with Wyatt, right?) to add to Callie's $800. However, Callie tells her it's too much and she can't take it. But, they agree to combine the money and share a car. So they go used car shopping. They find a good one, but the owner doesn't want to haggle and they lose it. They find a less good one, but still in their price range and they agree to purchase it.
Later, the part turns out to be a surprise party and Jude has invited lots of other people, including Girl's United, and Wyatt. Callie seems slightly uncomfortable, but pushes through.
Wyatt ends up approaching Mariana and asking her if she wants to date him. He's sure Callie would be fine with it. So, Mariana discusses this with Lena, who thinks she might be doing that so she doesn't have to tell Callie she's already slept with Wyatt. But, either way, she asks Callie who gives her blessing, but does seem weirded out by it.
Lena ends up telling Mariana, who then tells Wyatt she can't date him since Callie is uncomfortable. He then goes after Callie, upset that she strung him along and now won't let him date Mariana. Does he spill the beans and tell Callie he and Mariana slept together? Yes, he does.
Callie confronts Mariana about it and she claims she wanted to date Wyatt because if he was her boyfriend, then she wouldn't have lost her virginity to a guy she barely knew. And honestly, I can kind of see that logic. I don't think it really makes the situation any better, but I understand how her brain could get there.
Meanwhile, AJ has been hiding the fact that he's been in contact with Ty. And Brandon takes great offense to this. He's trying to get proof that he's been lying to his dad about it. And steals his phone. Later, he gets caught by AJ when his phone rings in Brandon's pocket. This causes the two of them to go after each other, and they physically fight each other before they are quickly broken up.
Afterwards, AJ confessed to Mike that he has been talking to Ty. Which, Mike is fine with. However, I do kind of understand why he might want to keep this to himself. Having such a chaotic life, it's naturally that you'd want something that's just yours.
When the party is over, AJ and Callie are alone in the bouncy castle and he gives her a drawing of herself as Super Callie. And the two of them kiss. Which, of course, Stef sees out the window.
I'm not even sure why I didn't love this episode. Again, there was nothing wrong with it. I'm blaming it on the fact that I didn't get misty eyed even once. π€£
