The Mentalist 1X22: Blood Brothers

Okay, I'm a little disappointed. I really thought we would get some mention of Red John at the end of this episode, because I'm sure he's showing up next episode.

Either way, we've got a dead kid at a camp for troubled teens. (I'm very against these, so hopefully I wasn't over biased, it didn't help that the guy in charge was literally have sex with one of the students). The school and the local cops are at odds with each other, both sort of blaming the other for the death.

Jane shows up and pretty much immediately determines that the kid was attacked, left for dead, and buried in a shallow grave just uphill. He managed to crawl out, but succumbed to his injuries before anyone could find him. After we talk to the parents, we find out that he was basically just here for being a teenager. Sullen and moody. He seemed like a good kid, and they seemed like decent parents.

They go inside and talk to the principal and Jane asks him if he knows anything about the Z crew. This was spray painted around near the grave. He claims he doesn't, but Jane knows he lying.

Lisbon ends up talking to a kid who tells them about Z Crew. It's a bunch of kids who are initiated and they run around and annoy a guy who lives near by. Trash his stuff, torment him, spray paint his house. However, no one knows who is in the group. They all wear masks and communicate via paper. You only know the person who initiated you.

Eventually, we talk to a person who suggested Cassie might know something (she's the girl who brought in the tea earlier). Apparently, the dead kid had a thing for her, but she wasn't interested. He thinks, maybe she's involved. The principal adamantly says there is zero chance she is involved, and we don't even need to talk to her. CBI insists, but she's no where to be found.

Patrick, being Patrick, waits for the principal to leave and then calls out the fact that Cassie is in the car with him and he's been having sex with her (the mysterious Zachariah was telling her to- she's not at fault here). Cut to us figuring out that the head of the Z Crew knew about this (well actually caused it) and was blackmailing the principal to let them run wild.

When the dead kid figured out the murder kid was forcing Cassie to have sex with the principal, he got upset. The two of them got into an argument (with apparently dead kid laughing at murder kid, which was the last straw) and dead kid got bashed with a rock and left for dead in a shallow grave. The murder kid is such a fucking asshole. In what fucking universe do you think this is the way to have a good time.
