9-1-1 8X17: Don't Drink the Water

Okay, so, is this show just gonna keep Bobby in every episode? I'm fine with it for the rest of the season, but going forward, if you kill off a character, make it count. (Not that I want Bobby to be dead, I'm just saying).

Eddie is still here (Yay!) but he and Buck get into a fight which I initially thought came out of nowhere, but after listening to Eddie, I get it. Buck is busy sulking (100% his right), but Eddie is suffering too and he's upset that Buck doesn't seem to have checked in on how everyone else is handling this. (Again, totally valid). They argue about it, but Buck concedes pretty quickly and apologizes. However, the next morning he wakes up to a note from Eddie that says he went to the airport.

Later, when Buck comes home, he finds Eddie and is confused as he thought he went back to Texas. But, Eddie corrects him saying he went to the airport, but didn't actually leave. Turns out, he went to pick up Christopher, which has Buck bursting at the seems. Plus. he brought back his aunt who Buck seems to have a kinship with. All is right is Buddie land.

Athena is trying to lean on Hen for support with Bobby. And it seems to be working out fine until Chim comes through the door unexpectedly with the kids and Athena can't even look at him. At first I was annoyed by this, as it is 100% not Chim's fault. But it seems like Athena knows that too. And it's not the actions that are throwing her off. It's the fact that just looking at Chim makes her think of Bobby which (obviously) upsets her.

Karen ends up trying to reconcile Athena and Chim (I think). This is when Athena claims she has nothing against Chim, but for right now, they need to keep things professional and nothing else. But, Karen claims she's the go between as Athena and Chim are both Hen's BFFs and she doesn't know how to handle it.

And, speaking of Hen, she's been offered the captain's job. But she's struggling with whether she should take it or not. Athena says Bobby would be proud to pass it on to her (and I agree), but Hen claims she doesn't actually want the position. I don't know where we're going here, but as long as Gerard isn't captain much longer, I don't really care who is.

At the end of the episode, Athena is dealing with the cart kid from a previous episode. He's been accused of stealing someone thong out of a dryer. At the last minute he realizes it is probably caught in the lint trap and runs back to check. Athena is checked out by this point and just lets him go. But, by the time she's back to her car, the whole building explodes. Do we assume it's the thong that caused the dyer fire? I mean, it doesn't hurt that all the water is on fire, right?

Eh, I don't love this as the penultimate episode. It feels like in the next episode, we'll be dealing with this catastrophe more than we'll be dealing with our friends. And let's be honest. That's who I care about at this point.
