Not the Video I Wanted to Release This Week

Hello Deathlings,

I'll keep this brief, mainly because I'm more eloquent in the video than I feel like I can be right now and also because your mortician is TIRED. Not like "tired of making videos" tired, more "I need a nap and someone to bring me a fancy latte" tired. Light some candles. Pet a dog.

IT'S BEEN A WEEK.

I may be weary now friends, but fear not, I'm not beat. My team isn't beat. We just need a beat to figure out our next steps on the main channel.

That being said, what's sustaining us right now is the content we have planned for our Patrons. YouTube debacle aside, we were already planning some content just for YOU that we are pretty excited about. We may be taking a step back from YouTube to do some strategizing, but this fall/winter we're aiming to keep our Patreon community buzzing!

Let it never be forgotten that we APPRECIATE YOU. YOU are why YouTube can't get us all the way down. YOU are why we can dust ourselves off and still find enthusiasm for the next video. YOU are why this is still fun.

Oh! And if you do only one thing today, please share the Eastland video: https://youtu.be/UCHt2MOVCbg

So thank you thank you thank you. I hope you get a tasty beverage and a visit from a furry creature (if that's your thing).

*A quick, but important clarification: If you clicked on this post from your email, the subject probably read, "Caitlin Doughty's new patron-only video". This is not a patron-only video; this is a video that was released to the public. When we release patron-only videos we will explicitly state in the video info and in the video post that it is a "Patron Exclusive" video. Patreon recently changed the way Patrons-only video posts (i.e. these nifty messages that are delivered to your inbox) are released via email – automatically adding that "patron-only video" line to the subject, even if that's not the case. But that's not how we (and a lot of other creators) do things. So, sorry for the confusion! I hope this cleared things up! We're working on fixing this with Patreon.

Caitlin, I'm sorry this happened to your video. I did not get to see the original. I have had YT bring down videos of mine that I was sure should have been fine. What I did was find other videos that flagrantly flaunted the "guidelines" that they stated I had broken, and asked why those were up but mine was down, and more often than not, they changed their mind. I may be too late in offering that advice now, but wanted to pass it on anyway,

You should be proud! Please Keep doing what you are doing!
